New guy in CT

Hi everyone, my name is Rich, just registered on the forum.

I'm in the Central CT area and am in the process of starting up a detailing business. I plan to do a few cars here and there for the rest of the year, since it's starting to get cold and then go full time in next spring. That will give me the winter to work out a business plan and marketing.

I have been a hobby mechanic and body man for almost 20 years and am no stranger to buffing and polishing paint. I did some detailing for a local body shop years ago.

I got laid off a little while back from my IT job so I decided to open up shop on my own doing something I enjoy and am good at.

I plan to keep learning from the forums and occasionally post up some of my work and help answer questions, etc.

Welcome to Autopia, Rich!

Welcome back to doing what you enjoy. I kicked my 30 year career in IT to the curb in 2003 and never looked back.

Then again, you can't put a price on getting paid to do something you love to do.

Re: New guy in CT

Yeah, I would have stuck with IT but there are absolutely no decent jobs hiring right now. Plus the fact that I've realized I will never be happy working in a filed other than the automotive field.

I would definitely take a little less pay doing something I love every day than doing something I'm just content with or not happy at all with.

Awesome, thanks! There's a few things I'd like to try so I may just take you up on that offer.
