Newbie with a truck

Still trying to find out answers to making my truck shine. Today is The Woodward Dream Cruise and the truck will stay in the garage. It's not ready toshowoff the wayI want itto look. It runs great. I got a tuner and have been doing my own tunes. All it needs is to look as good as it runs.

Re: Newbie with a truck

I'm in the same boat as this guy. My '99 Dakota has taken a back seat to my new bike obsession. Most of its life I have taken really good care of the paint, but I slacked the last couple of years, and the southern california sun has made me pay. It is not currently garaged. The top facing surfaces (including the windshield) are rough, even after washings. So I'm thinking to begin it either needs a clay barring or even a light polishing compound before I start with protectant waxing. My question is, where do I start? I've been lurking for about two weeks, but I'm pretty overwhelmed with all the different products everyone tends to use, and some of the shortcut terminology for example 912s and 476s or whatever HALP PLZ! Thx!

Re: Newbie with a truck

Be patient and keep reading, especially the sections for basic starting info.

I too am a newbie here and to detailing my own vehicle and it is definitely a learning process that can’t be done overnight not to mention all of the experimenting that comes along with learning.

Have fun and enjoy. Just keep reading posts and absorbing all the info you can.
