Thumbs up New from CA

Hello All,
I am new to autopia. Been lurking for a month or so and finally joined. I am full time employed as an HVAC tech for commercial buildings in my area. I work in service and controls (building automation). I have always loved a clean car and dirty ones bug me. I am the only one in my family that feels this way and so I clean my immediate family member`s cars as birthday presents to them.
With things getting a little slow at work in the last year, I was looking for another way to provide more income. I figured I would look into detailing as a part time business. The more I read on these and related forums the more I realized I have ALOT to learn, but the outcome is very rewarding in many ways.
My main hobby outside of detailing is automotive go fast goodies. I have a subaru which contends time with my wife and is an expensive habit. But it helps to keep me sane (I think).
So I am here to soak up information like a sponge (pun intended) and get my business venture off to the right start. I will be using the search function frequently ( as I am not new to forum formats), but any and all suggestions, advice, hints and tips are humbly welcome!
Just added: just bought the pc xp with a few pads. The Uber Porter Cable 7424XP Orbital Polisher with 8 Uber Pads from detailers domain. VERY EXCITED!
Sincerely,
Dean
