New Member from New Jersey

Hey,
My name is Danny, I'm 18 and I'm a graduating senior at my high school. I will be attending Carnegie Mellon University and I just got my first new car. It's a Honda Civic Ex and from what I have been reading it's going to be tougher keeping the imperfections away due to the fact that it's black.
I would like to learn a lot from this site and eventually be able to help others in my situation.
I have been reading a lot of threads and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to keep it shiny and clean. Most of the threads I have read have to do with how to fix a problem, I would like to know how to prevent them.
I did make the mistake of taking it to one of those automatic car washes and right after it came out I saw what it appeared to be a swirl mark on the trunk. (that was before I found this site lol)

Welcome to the forums! I had a 2001 Civic EX. It was a nice ride and was also my first car I bought new.
