Greetings Y'all

I am new to Autopia and new to posting in Forums in general so I will try not to make a ID-10-T of myslef here. But of course I dont always succeed at what I try...

I have absolutely no detailing experience. I usually get my car detailed once a year and just wash it at home with a sponge and go use the spray wax at the car wash.

I have tried waxing my car by hand but to be honest it always looks like cr@p when I do, so I basically only wax the front end in an effort to keep bugs from sticking (that dont work so well either).

I have 2 GTs - NO not Ford GTs - I am just a poor working stiff. I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and a Mustang GT. The Mustang has fresh Simonize treatment and looks pretty mint. The Eclipse looks great from 20 feet away but starts showing signs of imperfections upon closer inspection. The surface is feeling a bit rough and plenty of bug pitting on nose. Some light scratches and marks also.

I just got a Mother's clay bar kit for use on the Eclipse. I also have Mother's 3 step products, cleaner, polish, wax. But I really need a (cheap under $50) buffer/polisher and some detailing tips first so I can actually complete the process and hopefully not have to take my cars to get detailed this year to make up for the cost.

I would like to be able to keep a mirror finish on both by doing it all myself. They look pretty good now but no thanks to my detailing abilities which are pretty d@mn bad due mostly to lack of knowledge and experience but also, I admit it, some laziness and stupidity thrown in cause that's just the way I am.
