Trying to learn the detailing ropes....glad to be here!!

Hi gang! I am happy to be here, and decided it was better in the long run for me to take the time to learn how to detail my cars PROPERLY, rather than pay a local guy $300 + to clean my car. Hopefully I am right...I just do not want to hurt my paint.

Anyway....I look forward to interacting here. Have a great day, gang!

HAHA!! Yep, it seems like there are a million ways to do this. From what I can tell, there is not one 'magic product' to use, and that most quality ones give similar results. Right now I am just trying to figure out what polishes, waxes, pads, cleaners, clay bars, etc. to use to get my paint looking as good as possible, without screwing up and giving holograms to the paint.

It is going to be a process for sure....LOL!!

Oh Good Lord I know the feeling...... it's MIND BLOWING! I've been reading and reading since probably Thursday all day every day. My wife thinks I'm becoming obsessed with my Jeep. I have either taken it to the car wash or hand waxed it but, it's time to really LEARN how to make it look correct. I'm tired to waxing it, or paying someone to wax it and the swirls still be there. I don't trust my car wash guy to use a high speed like he wants to(My Jeep is BLACK). I love my Jeep too much to trust just anyone and I don't feel like paying the only guy in town that I DO trust $500.00 to detail it. For that money I can get all the products I need to do it for a while.

So I think my headache is coming back...LOL!! I have been reading about 'LSP', 'jeweling', 'RIDS', and still have no idea what any of it is. LOL!!

Is there a terminology index somewhere? I may have just missed it.
