newbie.

Hey guys. My name is Rodney Pierce as you can probably tell by the username. haha. Im 24 years old and reside in our newly bought house in Iowa. Anyhow ive got a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS that I honestly dont care a whole lot about in the paint qaulity department, but it gets well taken care of. (Its got spots of paint flaking off, and scratches all over, your typical daily driver) I also have a 2001 Trans Am WS6 that is my pride and joy. Heads/Cam car ran 11.90's at 118 in the 1/4. She gets wiped down after each outing, and is always stored in the garage. never left outside for more then a few hours at a time, or tops a day at work. Anyhow I just ordered a used Porter Cable that is in need of some work. They said that you have to spin the counter weight by hand to get it to go, but then it runs fine. So im thinking it either just needs a good cleaning, or the brushes need replaced. Either way I got it for a very good deal. Paid 45.00 shipped for it. I also ordered some poorboy's world products and some stuff from tropicare. All for the Trans Am. Looking forward to learning tons on this forum!!! I love to detail cars, and am actually thinking of starting a shop here someday with my best buddy. He also has a dire passion for detailing cars. Either way, enough on me.

Re: newbie.

Take your Porter-Cable to an ACE Hardware as they (many of them) are certified PC repair centers. For a few bucks they will replace the brushes and lube it for you.

My PC was purchased new in April of 1995 and has seen about 3,000 details and still works fine. I drop it off at the Ace every couple of years for a clean and lube.

Welcome to the world of detailing.
