Another Weekend Warrior

I've been reading a lot on E90post, and got the Flex for my B-day a few weeks ago. I'd learned a bit about hand processes and finally made the jump to machines. I've been working on my sons' older cars that have rarely seen soap, a bit on my truck that gets it's fair share of scratches from surf/sand and spring/summer cabin hauling of wood. I've done the trunk on the E90 and removed most of the major scratches that have been there for a while.

The wife has now arranged to whore me out to the family for $25/car. I can't afford the polishes/pads for that price!!! But I've worked portions of several, and really enjoy it. Still learning on the older cars, then applying to the newer ones.

Re: Another Weekend Warrior

We want to hear your story. Let us interview you with the following questions:

1. How did you wind up at Autopia?
Lots of links on E90Post

2. What do you like most about detailing?
Time to concentrate on the vehicle and forget about the world, then have a nice shiny vehicle at the end

3. What are your favorite products/processes and why?
Flex and Minzerna for correction, then Zaino for sealants

4. What's your dream car and why?
70 Cougar. Had one as a kid and loved the raw power. Best part was the tail lights, and the lifting covers on the headlights.

5. What's the best thing you learned on Autopia?
The best is yet to come

6. What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
Coachin my son in soccer/baseball, surfing, sunshine

7. Do you have any pets? If so, types, names, pics.
About 60 chickens, 3 turkeys

9. Where are you from and where do you live now?
Born in Washington, D.C. but moved to Oxnard, CA before I was 2. Been here for 40 years now.

10. What was you first car and what got you interested in keeping cars perfect?
That 70 Cougar. I take pride in ownership, plus a nice car was a chick magnet

11. What motivates you to detail?
Keeping a nice car nice. I spent all that money when it was new.

12. Would you ever pay someone else to detail your car?
I did once, watched that it wasn't really all THAT hard if I took some time to practice on older vehicles.

13. Does detailing run in the family at all, or are you the only normal one?
Only normal one here. Came over for dinner last Sunday and dad was washing the cars. Brought the Flex and got about 1/2 the Highlander done before the sun wnet down. He wanted to know why I was spending so much time when the turtle wax wash had was added . . .

15. If detailing is a hobby for you, would you like to do it full time, or do you feel that it would take the fun out of it?
At $25/car, think I should keep my day job (IT Manager for small city)
