Hello from Dallas, Texas

Hello everyone!

I've been visiting several sites lately and always come back to this one for information. I really like how this site has a large amount of active users. Everyday there is new and excelent information to be learned.

A little background about me:

I managed to get an excelent first job that opened me up to alot of things when I was 15. I started working at a motorcycle restoration shop in a small town in texas, working on Triumphs and BSA's. As our shop started to grow we began doing everything in house including painting. I learned about detailing and was amazed at what a buffer could do. Since then I have always loved taking care of my cars but fell out of the paint correction area due to someone stealing all my tools.

I have now decided to get back into detailing and getting all the tools needed. I have already ordered an UDM along with some pads. I am about to place another order for some polished and such.

I am really looking forward to learn about all that has changed in the past 4 years since I have used a PC.

Thanks everyone and sorry about the long post.

Welcome, if you want to do serious paint correction, you'll need to get yourself a rotary buffer as well.

I think that I am going to start off small and work my way up. I am sure that after I get used to the UDM that I will pick up a rotary. I haven't completely decided if I wanted to do this on the side or try to make some serious money.

I don't know about everyone else, but I know I was working full time when I owned my Corvette and ended up detailing my buddies Vettes on the side for money to save up for an engagement rings and the cars just kept coming until I had enough business to make it full time.....

I think this is something that I am going to be doing on the weekends. I am working for a company now that has a lot of growth potential. Starting after the first of the year I will be traveling all over the US about 4 days a week. If I was able to make an extra hundred dollars on the weekend that would be fine by me.

Detailing is more of an art to me that I don't really care to mass produce (if that makes any sense).
