Watching the Overhaulin' of the 62 Belair last night I saw a WCD truck in the background behind the lovely Courtney!

Did you know about this Rob?

Maybe someone from WCD can teach them how to properly buff out the cars. That black GTO they did for Lance Armstrong was absolutely disgusting. Even quickly panning over the top of the car, you could see it was covered in rotary swirls.

I think that is Sid and Kathy White that own Winners Circle Detail. Not the same as Winners Circle that is the supplier. I am totally confused if it is Sid and Kathy, as I was told by them they had gone "Out of business" last year! I was a distributer for Winners Choice Products, a line of products they had manufactured and just got an email saying Thanks we are getting out!?!?!? Several people tried to contact them and no go. Just really strange........... Scott remember the stuff I sent you? They are the ones that owned the company. Did a lot of "Show Cars" for Foose several years ago.

ScottWax - the Lance Armstrong GTO was done in Texas, not SoCal.

What I don't get is that Foose has mothers posters all over but when I talked to them they told me they had their own line of products they use.
Wax and polish sniffer.

That was another strange deal, Foose was always advertising Mothers, but Sid and Kathy had pictures of them detailing Foose cars before shows! Don't mean to drag out this post but it was just such strange deal. Real frustrating to me since the products were really good and I have no way of contacting them............

I'm not sure who "they" is. Chip uses our stuff, but he doesn't have a line of products. Do you mean WCD?

When were Sid & Kathy detailing cars for Chip (what year)? I know the guy who's been detailing Chip's builds for a couple of years, and his name isn't Sid, it's Jeff.

There was a post in the now deleted WCD vendor forum that asked this before and Rob said it was a different company. (This episode was a repeat.)
Do you give birth to original ideas or are they all adoptions?

Forrest, It was a couple years ago, would have been 2001/2002? Sid and Kathy had pictures of themselves detailing Foose’s cars. The last one that won the “Riddler” award, the silver coupe and several others. Wish I had kept the pictures…… They were based in Huntington Beach, Ca. When they dumped us (dealers) several of us talked trying to contact them. One guy in Az wanted to buy the Winners Choice name and resell the product but none of us could contact them. I was really surprised when I saw them on Overhaulin, I recognized them the minute I saw them. Does anyone know how long ago they shot the different shows?

Forest, Just thought, I might have some pics from an old backup on my PC at home, I'll check this weekend. Not calling you wrong or anything, just the whole thing with them bugs me.....:)

That is what I thought, but the fact still remains, whoever buffed it out is an idiot and should never be allowed near detailing products ever again!

Did you see the car? It was just horrible....but maybe just people like us really noticed that stuff. :nixweiss

WEll watched OVerhaulin' last night and they specifically pointed out that Kathy and ?? from Winner's Circle Detailing were working on the buffing.

The episode was the Buick Skylark lowrider one.

That's pretty solid proof right there, 2 episodes and they even introduced them in this one!

I have been asked numerous times, but it is not me doing that detailing...although, Lance has been practicing with his team near my house in Santa Barbara, CA. He works out in Buellton and Solvang where they shot the Sideways movie.

Hmm..maybe I can detail his bike? :)

It has been confusing seeing WCD/ Winners Circle Detailing Products.
Kathy and Sid sold their products under Winners Choice Products and kept the detailing business as Winners Circle Detailing.
They are 2 totally different companies.. Just wish I knew why they dumped the wax business..... make a bunch of us mad!!!!:angry

Scott

I’m orig. from So Cal. and have attended many a Hot Rod show. You would be sick if you could see some of the swirled up rides these guys put in the shows. My Dad builds and restores cars as a hobby. This is part of the reason for me being a Detailer.

:bow Amen Scott!

It goes for all the Overhaulin' shows. Maybe 1 or 2 look great, but the majority of them have buffer swirls, especially when they do the bird's eye view shots at the end under those lights.

That is right, they definately haven't gone out of business, they are still around and in full force :)

I actually see the truck out on the road quite often (had a talk w/ Kathy a few months back in the parking lot of the grocery store), and they were polishing a few cars at the GNRS

The best was at the Grand National Roadster Show this year, these are the best cars int he country. This black 32 coupe came off the enclosed trailer w/ all the tires and everything wrapped in plastic, but the black paint had swirls ALLLL over it, I assumed they were gonna buff it out inside, but of course not :bounce

I have noticed swirls and buffer marks as well on a few of the cars but-------

cut them some slack. I would hate to have to do a 10 hour color sand and buff in 2-3 hours while trying to buff around a crew putting the car together, usually at night without proper lighting.

If you take that into consideration you might admire what they can do with the deck stacked against them.
Please join me in giving thanks to our troops that serve in the name of our freedom. Include them in your prayers.

These people represent the top of there Profession. They’re on National TV. If the Painter did his job well then the person wet sanding and polishing the car shouldn't have to many flaws to correct. Fresh paint is fairly easy to knock down and polish. I think 3 hours is plenty of time for two people to do this and have a swirl free finish.

Yeah... I don't know how they managed to destroy fresh paint like that. I just hope to goodness they didn't wax it!!
