Heya,

First of all, i would like to say that im new to Autopia :woot:.

Im lookin for the best tire dressing out there. One that stays on for weeks/months, stays on wash after wash, and should not leak on rims. Ive tried 'Black Magic Tire Wet Express' and 'Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Coating', but both are gone after just a couple of washes. Which one do YOU recommend?

Thanks :2thumbs:,

Warren.

First off....welcome.

Second, please do a search. There is at least one new tire dressing thread that pops up every week or two.

The Hulk is right, there are a ton of tire dressing threads. A lot depends on the "look" you're after. So far my top 3 are:

Thanks for replying so fast. From those 3 (Zaino Z-16, Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus & Poorboy's Bold N Bright), which one stays 'black' the longest and doesnt wash away or leak?

Take the advice from post #2.

Most wash away and most negative characteristics are a result of sloppy application.

I'll tell you the best non-glossy one out there, 303 aerospace protectant. Yes I use it on everything, including tires, and it gives a great matte finish that lasts a very long time.

If your highest priority is longevity (longer than one or two washes), there is a product out there that is supposed to last months and is $$$. The name escapes me. I'm certain somebody else will post the product info.

Welcome aboard, Warren!

tuf shine or ultima tire and trim are the only ones that have lasted me longer than two washings. the ultima is gone on 5 months now and the tuf shine about 1.5 months. have had to apply additional coats with the ultima (about once a month for the first couple of months), haven't had to do anything with the tuf shine as of yet.

I recently tried Griot's Weatherproof Tire Dressing and it seems like it lasts longer than any OTC tire dressing I've used. It's almost like a paint and leaves a matte finish. Has lasted a week so far for me including driving through rain and still looks the same. Kind of messy though.

303 gives the look that I like, and seems to be the perfect all-around rubber protectant. My fiancee uses one of the Meg's products in a box that gives an extremely glossy finish (not to my taste).

I've been using Auto Magic's Magic Dressing with good results. It lasts a couple of washes. I don't want one that lasts for months, I get bored with the look and want to apply some more to a clean tire.

I happen to like TOL's grape tire dressing. It smells good and lasts for a while too
