Polishing iBook/Macbook?

Weird question, but I figured Autopia would be the best place to ask.

I'm thinking about polishing the small scratches and swirls out of my glossy white iBook. I've done a very good job not scratching it, it barely leaves my desk but sometimes I've gotta take it with me and I'm sure its scratched, etc.

Anyone heard about polishing these before? I was thinking of a small, mild 4" pad with my UDM set pretty low and some Sonus SFX-2, etc.

I'm nervous, I might try the back first but does anyone know if this would work?

Re: Polishing iBook/Macbook?

I polished the gf's laptop a while back. I can't see any reason why an iBook would be difficult. Go for it.

A little PlastX should take out the scratches. It did on an old 2nd gen iPod I had.

Did you do it by hand or machine?

Re: Polishing iBook/Macbook?

By hand. I could just see my ipod flying across the room from my Makita. LOL

Actually it worked quite well with a microfiber. I just did an inch or so at a time until it was all finished. It looked brand new when i finished. I should have taken before and after shots.

Re: Polishing iBook/Macbook?

I think my UDM might fare good on my iBook since its a little bigger than an iPod :P

Re: Polishing iBook/Macbook?

I used the PC. Dewalt is a tad bit too powerful, methinks.
