Surf the gun forums and you'll see that it's pretty common with the .40 S&W version. |
Well, I'm quoting myself for a CZ update. As I had metioned, my bud sent his RAMI back and they couldnt fix it. It's a known problem with the .40 cal versions said the CZ rep. Kudos to CZ because they sent him a NIB 9mm version of the pistol (even though it took them a while). Perfect time for this thread to resurface as we took it to the range today for the first time. The 9mm ran better than the .40, but we put about 120 rounds through it and had probably 7 or 8 jams. A few feeding issues as well as a couple fail to fire issues. We're both experienced shooters, so limp wristing or any other shooter error was ruled out. I think I personally shot 3 or 4 mags through it and two of them were trouble free. I told my bud we should probably put atleast 100 more through it before he makes his decision, but I think it's as good as gone. It's a real bummer too, because the gun is definitely comfortable in the hand even with the three finger grip on the 10 round mag. It isn't too jumpy and it seems pretty accurate. Just thought I would add that to this thread.

BTW: To the person who commented on us "Americans" buying guns like takin a trip to Wal-Mart - It's not like this all over America. Where I live, most people don't carry guns. You mainly see that in rural America (to shoot wild animals i guess?), and high crime cities.
The problem is, guns are so readily available here its insane.

Just goes to show you different strokes for different folks. I might agree that a detailing forum isn't necessarily the best place to do it. Quote: |

I believe you would be surprised if you actually knew who the upstanding legal owners of firearms are and where they live. By the way many gun owners are not hunters.

I'd never feel OK with something that malfunctioned like that, but then I'm a bit of a fanatic about reliability if the piece is meant for serious work. Sometimes it just takes a little tweaking (by somebody good) to solve such problems, but these days I'd expect better right out-of-the-box, especially for a 9mm that was designed for that caliber.

The problem is, guns are so readily available here its insane. | In my opinion if there where more law abiding citizens carrying and allowed to carry in more places, instances like Virginia Tech and so on would not have escalated to as many deaths as they did.
I think more people carry than you might think. if you have a concealed weapon permit your firearm is concealed and you would never know if the guy/woman standing next to you in line at the grocery store was carrying or not.
I think the problem is the general publics ignorance toward guns and gun laws. I absolutely hate when a gun crime is committed and people want guns banned. It makes NO sense to me at all! The people committing gun crimes usually don't have legal guns. Banning guns won't stop them from getting them illegally, like they already do, and use them. Murder is illegal but that did not stop them. The only thing banning guns from the law abiding citizens is going to do is hurt those law abiding citizens and keep them from protecting themselves.

I have a CZ-83 and the original 10 round magazine would jam up all of the time but CZ sent out a new 12 round to replace it and it works flawlessly.

I wonder if the full-size models have these isses (at least in 9mm)

I have not heard of issues with the larger guns but I don't know too many people who have them. One good thing is that CZ bought Dan Wesson's name and those guns are supposed to be awesome!
