No disappointment for me.

Wand has what? 1 win in his last 5 fights? Mirko (KO), Dan (KO), Chuck (decision), Jardine (WIN - KO), and Page (KO). I dont know if he is done. Like a lot of people I like to watch him fight but thats some brutal KO's he has taken. Who knows...

Its my crow, I'll eat it. I was actually rooting for Mir but logically I thought Nog would destroy him.

The Mir that fought last night was unlike any Mir before. Very impressive.

Keep in mind (I'm a Wand fan, I have an old school shirt of his) that Wand made his career and his name beating much smaller, lesser skilled Japanese fighters. He had impressive victories in his reign over Rampage twice and an younger Henderson. Before going to pride he was 1-2 in the UFC (super quick loss to Belfort and a decision to Ortiz) and basically wasn't good enough to make the cut.

He went over to Japan, beat some good fighters, but really made his bread and butter beating up nobodies. Once he wasn't fed the steady diet of tomato cans and had to fight top quality competition all he was somewhat exposed.

I too am a Wand fan. I agree he got somewhat exposed after fighting top competition.

Despite the loss of both Nog and Randy I would still like to see that fight. No reason Dana cannot make it happen unless the talks of Randy cutting to 205 to fight Chuck again is true.

Now I am really looking forward to BJ -vs- GSP. I have my tickets, air and hotel all set up and ready to go.

i think the octagon has played a role too, as opposed to the ring he was use to fighting in and the different rules as well (head stomps, etc)... he is a warrior no doubt... Mir definitely has overcome alot and deserved and earned his win without a doubt... for every loss it makes you go back to the drawing board and just keep getting better and better, and i'm sure Nog will be back with a vengeance...

I agree the rules/ring/cage all play a role but this is not Wand or Nog's first fight in the Octagon. I'm not sure the final result would have been different last night if they had pride rules and a ring. Could have but who really knows?

I look forward to both of them coming back with a vengeance. I hope they do but I cannot help but wonder if they have been in to many wars. At some point it's got to catch up. I'm not saying it has but it feels like it's getting close.

it's wierd, it seems most all the dominating pride fighters come over to the ufc and then lose (cro-cop, etc)... i wish pride was still around (more global international fighters), i enjoyed it more than the ufc and the crowds there know the ethics and "get it"...
