I think Randy needs to work the jab and keep distance, because there is nobody that is going to stuff a Brock Lesnar takedown, and I dont know if there is anyone strong enough to get Lesnar off of them should he secure the mount.
I'm really pulling for Randy, but it's a tough one to pick. I wouldnt be at all suprised if Lesnar is the champ after Saturday night.

Randy has stamina/cardio and can go five rounds, so if he wears him down (jabs, leg kicks, etc) to wear Brock is tired/gassed, then we may see a mount/ground & pound...

Wait. What? Brock Lesner? The guy from the WWE is now doing UFC fights?

Re: Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar
The only thing I will add (I didn't read the whole thread) is that Couture (when he decieded to have a press agent release his retirement) gave up the best that Nogeuira now owns so why is this a title bout?

I would agree in saying that Pride HW were more exciting and talanted. But it's been some time now. Nog has been in battles and at some point it's going to take a toll on his body. The last BJJ fighter NOG faced was Werdum. That went to decision. Wrestling he has fought Barnett twice in the last two years. Won one and lost one. He took Mirko down but no one can claim Mirko has a good sprawl.
I like NOG but I think we will see an upset. It's just my opinion but in the wonderful world of MMA anything can and will happen (Evans vs Liddel).

I guess you are a 'new' fan of MMA... Mirko has (when trained) the one of the best sprawls in MMA, I suggest you watch his fights in Pride....

I dont see Brock getting tired. He's a freak! He is just so athletic. He sure didnt tire against Herring at all, and he was working the whole fight.

you never know, MMA is a different pace/scenario from what he has been doing in the past (he's still relatively new to MMA) and each fight is different. he can come out raging like a bull only to gas out and that's where Randy will capitalize if he has a game plan...
BTW... the reason why this is a title bout (yes there are others that are far more deserving for a title shot), is they know (UFC) they are going to make alot of $,$$$,$$$'s....

Absolutely right. MMA is hard to predict. I really think we'll see a different Brock in this fight. I dont think we're going to see him steamroll Randy, but I dont look for him to run out of gas either.
As far as the money they'll make....The UFC didnt get to where it is today by being stupid. Lorenzo, Dana and Joe know what they're doing. There's a reason why everyone else is going under and the UFC is sitting pretty. The heavyweight division is kinda shallow as far as talent goes anyway. There's no contest compared to the LHW division.
The one I'm really looking forward to is Wanderlei vs Rampage again next month. I really hope that Wanderlei wipes the mat with Rampage AGAIN. From the looks of his performance against Keith Jardine, I'd say that Quinton is going to be fighting the same ole Intense Wanderlei who's already handed him his @$$.

Re: Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar
yeah, Brock is going to want this more than anything he has ever done, so i'm sure he'll be prepared to the best of his ability. i don't know if it's just me, but it seems when Wanderlai came to the UFC, he lost that fire/aggressiveness that he had when he was over at Pride. i would like to see another re-match with Chuck. it just goes to show you what kind of chin/caliber Wanderlai has, he took many shots from Chuck that would of put most to sleep and he kept coming...
it would be nice if they brought Fedor and his brother over, it definitely would add more excitement to the UFC...

Re: Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar
I am a big fan of Couture, but Lesnar is 45 pounds heavier (cutting weight) stronger, faster and younger. I am 38, and I know that as hard as I continue train I have lost some speed and stamina over the past few years.
I think Lesnar has a good shot of overwhelming Coulture.
