Re: Lookin for Pro Detailer in CA, San Diego

Her I am. Too bad there's no sun in our County today for some full-sun pics.

Twas a 2-step buff job with a few exeptions:
-First step was PO106FF via rotary with Orange Lake Country Variable Contact pad at 1500 to 1800 RPMs with lots of pressure
-Second step was PO106FF via green AB pad (P2) at 1200-1500 RPMs with light pressure
-Finished with UPP (owner did the waxing which freed me up to perform extra buffing as needed).

Overall, I'd put the paint at 95% perfect...I think we'll have a proud owner on our hands, as you'd be hard pressed to find a vehicle on the road with less marring. We might even have an "Autopian" in the making - though I was buffing with a rotary, I offered to give him a lesson with the PC, but he wasn't ready for that. Next time.

Re: Lookin for Pro Detailer in CA, San Diego

Oh yeah...after I finished, I noticed the driver's side real quarter panel was still in bad shape, as it had been repainted by the dealership. I sanded out a really big dirt nib, rebuffed with orange LCVC with HTEC+OP, then repeated the original two step buff process.

Also, the outside (verticle) portions of ALL FOUR fenders had really deep scratches, so I polishes each of these an extra couple times. Apparently, the dealership has ran this car through their onsite machine wash several times, and I strongly suspect the brushes or blo dryer portion of the wash uses plastic rollers that run along the car to ensure the proper distance, as the scratches were all identical and ran perfectly lengthwise. some of these scratches are still their (we'll "catch up" to them next time with some compound and a little wool if necessary).

And did I mention I love the 106FF + orange LCVC combo - it really cuts through the swirls and leaves a nearly LSP-ready finish. I seriously think I only gain about 20% more cut by going with a "compound" like PG or HTEC+OP combo, which really tears the paint up compared to 106FF.

Any new pictures with full sun reflecting off the paint? We gotta show these guys were not hiding anything (though there is a slight amount of deeper marring remaining in a few spots, not any that will show up in a picture)

Re: Lookin for Pro Detailer in CA, San Diego

Quick follow-up. This guy crazy into is car...I love it. I feel like we've become friends I've been out so many times to detail his car...I even tried to teach him how to do it himself, but I guess he just likes having me do it. I probably come and and buff this thing every 3 -4 months...it's a solid 95% swirl-free at all times. Because he washes it fairly gentle-like, it never needs more than a 1-step...except for the first time when I had to fix what the dealership did.
