That car had some serious dealer installed scratches. It looked like it had been washed with a wash mitt that had been dropped on the ground. Several parts of the car had some major damage, the hood and right above the front tires was the worst. The paint was also very prone to marring. It was a huge learning experience for me.
I feel bad for nanjay. What should have been a very happy time with a new car has been a frustrating experience.

Nan, it sounds like the two gentlemen who repaired your car were a little surprised at the amount of work needed. What caused the severe swirls and other damage?

BTW, thanks for the vote of confidence guys - surprisingly enough, several people from the San Diego area of subsequently booked details with me as a result of seeing this thread...I never would have thought this site would actually generate business. I think people must do an Internet search for "San Diego Car Detailer" or something because I think people are finding this thread through a random Internet search.

So how did Nan's car turn out? RAG- I might be giving you a call, having some trouble with my black S2000 that might be out of my realm of experience...

SDCJ...no problem, I can handle it. I assure you I'm the best around (at least in this County). Check your PMs.

Talking

Got my G35 detailed by RAG(Ryan) this week. I just got it back from the body shop a couple weeks ago and the panels they repainted were riddled with holograms. The panels they didn't repaint they left a good amount of scratches, slight overspray and swirls from washing as a courtesy. Ryan is like a magician with the rotary. He managed to get 98% of the swirls/scratches/rust out of the paint. I have a PC and decent skills, but took it to Ryan because I knew my PC couldn't take a lot of these defects out, which he did with ease. Overall, I am very pleased with his work and the car looks better than new. I totally recommend him if you are anywhere near the San Diego area.

I am attaching some pictures, but they're not best since their from my cell. Will get some better pictures Monday.

Re: Need a good detailer in San diego

Yeah bud, if you do take some more pics, be sure to send them to me for my new web site.

True to form, the panels that were repainted by the body shop were absolutely hammered. To put in in perspective, I used Extreme Cut with an orange LCVC pad via rotary and actually reduced the swirls and enhanced gloss dramaticall...which tells me they must have hit it with twisted wool and then turned it out the door. I actually had to hit it 2-3x with Extreme Cut to remove the swirls, and then followed with 106ff 2x. The end result was aound a 95% perfect finish throughout the entire car...about as good as it gets (the rest of the car got HTEC 1x and 106FF 2x).

Make sure the pictures show direct sun or direct lighting so the peeps don't think were hiding anything.

Thanks again for the vote of confidence!

Ryan Anthony Gelardi (RAG)
