Professional Development in SoCal

Any professional (or otherwise highly experienced) detailers interested in doing some cross training? The premise of the training would be to each share our best tips, techniques, and products with the hopes that we could all learn a thing or two from eachother. We'd probably gear the session toward heavy paint correction work, ideally on a black vehicle. Everybody will get involved.

I would volunteer my 2-car garage for us to work in, though I doubt many would be interested in making the trip WAY down here in SD; rather, I was thinking somewhere more like LA/OC would be more central for most people.

Interested persons can reply here or send me a PM.

Hopefully this is the best place for this thread...I didn't put it under TechSession, as I was thinking of something informal and limited to those who can contribute...more like "show and tell".

I moved to the SW forum as it is region specific.

I was thinking we could set-up a few cross-training sessions at various locations in SoCal...I'm in San Diego and could host the first one (in my 2-car garage, as I'm mobile). And maybe somebody a little closer to the LA area could host another one...Patrick, DanoWatt, anyone? I could have a car or two for us to work on for sure.

I know we all have big egos, but I'm sure we could learn stuff from eachother...at least get a perspective on how others do things.

If there are interested persons, I could host the first one. It would be very informal...in fact, I would expect others to get involved and actively cross-train. I have a great product line-up, a Desiderio steamer/extractor, and I should have an ETG by then...and a bunch of other things I'm sure others would like to try.

Lets set up a web cast for this. I'd be interested in doing it.

I think it sounds like a really cool idea. San Diego is quite a trip for me. . . I'd have to really consider that one. LA or even OC are close enough. All I have is a carport but shouldn't have any issue finding a place to put a handful of detailers to work for the day. Superior Shine mentioned in this thread that he has access to a location in OC. . . if his invitation still stands, I don't know. I will do what I can, my summer is filling up fast!

Location

I've talked to a couple other detailers via PM...I would be totally willing to have the cross-training session at my place in SD, but being that it isn't exactly a central location, it doestn't seem that it will work out for very many other people...if any. So I guess I'll have to wait for someone else to volunteer a location...and the location is probably the easy part, as we'll probably need an abused vehicle or two to work on. I could have vehicles for us to practice on, but I'd need 2 or 3 other people willing to come to SD - since it's hands on, I think 4 or 5 poeple is about right.

Update

Things are looking good for the cross-training session - right now there are six of us comitted. If anyone else is comfortable contributing to the cross-training session, speak up now and we'll give you the skinny (there should be room for one or maybe two more). Otherwise, I'm sure the general "meet/detail fest" will transpire in the near future as well.

This sounds like it would be a great thing to attend, but I am not sure if I would be able to make it. I am currently only able to work weekends and all my weekends are booked into mid may, but if the session were to be nearby I am sure I could dash over after a morning detail if you do it on the weekend. Hvae you set the date or location yet?

That makes 8 of us tentatively committed...we're look'n good. Now we just need to set a date...I'd like to shoot for a weekend sometime in May. And we still need a location...a decent garage would do nicely.

9 now, and everybody seems to be really stoked on the idea. Were basically maxed out for participation. Can everyone make the trip to Pomona?

Jacky, R U still in (your PM box is full and I haven't heard from you in a few)?
