For you S. Florida detailers...

how do you detail with the current water resttriction in place? My neighbor has already gotten a citation and another has received a fine for washing their cars, my only other option is to go to a do-it-yourself car wash, but i dont want to drag all my gear out there. Just wondering how you guys are keeping your car clean, while I figure out a way to take car of mine.

Re: For you S. Florida detailers...

i take my car to the do it yourself car wash right around the corner about 9 or 10 o'clock at night. i'll wash and detail my car inside and out. it's cool out i'm under florescent lighting and i can really take my time cause there's no one waiting to use a stall.

This thread is discussing the same topic. In short, ONR is your answer.

The restrictions are on the water as it hasn't rained in a while so the water table is low. It's for saving water. Grasses and such need to be watered but they have restrictions on when you can do it and how long etc. We're only a few feet above the water table here. IE no basements.

Re: For you S. Florida detailers...

I've washed a few cars using the two bucket and hose and I haven't gotten fined yet, but I read somewhere that my city (Jupiter) wasn't going to enforce the restrictions because they spent 50 some odd million on alternative water sources last year or something. But anywho, I ordered ONR from Danase, and I will be using that from now on.

I always wash my cars at night to avoid the heat and now the H20 Police.

Re: For you S. Florida detailers...

I've been using buckets of water, literally. I first fill my wash buckets, then, fill up another bucket, toss it on the car, and repeat until car is completely wet. After washing, it's back to the buckets to rinse. Mind you, there's no pressure to clean the tires, so it's a lot of work by hand. In any event, it's working, and I'm going to stick with it.

Oh, and I suggest you wear something that will dry quickly - the front half of me normally gets soaked, but, it's a small price to pay, as opposed to being fined.

FYI, in S. Fla. they also helicopters flying over to alert the on ground water police. Amazing, have they nothing better to do?!?!?!

ONR is your answer man, couple gallons of water and thats it, if you have to you can buy some distilled water at wal mart, cost ya a buck and a half and no water police chasing you.

They have helicopters flying around because off a drought ? They must have money to burn.

What's the penalty for getting caught ?

And just an "off the wall" question.......how do the Disney water parks cope ? Do they shut down, or what ?

Disney is in Central Florida...a good 300 miles away from S. Florida (Miami).

They could be affected too, but I don't know.
