I've been detailing car by hand with Meguiar's for a long while. But, I'm a noob in the "PC Detailing" world. I've been learning to detail with my new PC on my wife's '98 explorer. Had good results, getting better. Working my way up to being brave enough to detail my G35. But, not brave enough yet.

I'm definately interested in a Detail Meet... even if I was just there to watch. I live in Raleigh, BTW.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi all,

I live in Holly Springs and I have a 2006 Corvette (Black).

As you can expect, I'm extremely anal about the appearance of my baby. I do a decent job myself, keeping it clean as I can and making sure to baby the surface with microfiber towels and whatnot. I use Zaino products with fantastic results, and I have also used Menzerna polishes with a PC 7424 with great results.

However, I realize that unless you use a more serious machine polisher like a rotary, you'll never really remove the swirls.

So, I am looking for a serious detailer in the area that has experience with high-end vehicles and really knows what they are doing. Someone who knows how to remove swirls, particularly on black cars and can help me out every 6 months or so.

I have looked up plenty of shops, but it's like tossing a dart at the wall. So I'm hoping I'll find some serious referals here from people who know what they are doing and would trust a $50,000 car in the hands of another detailer.

Here's a couple pics of it. The first is after I went thru the process of using the PC with Menzerna Intense Polish and then Finishing Polish. I finished that off with a quick spray of Zaino (Z6).

Here's a pic of basically how it looks after a couple months of normal use...you can see the swirls that torment me! They aren't as bad as the pic makes them appear, but I did zoom in pretty closer and made the light just right to bring them out...

So who would you recommend in the RTP area who can get rid of these the right way and make it last?

Thanks for you time.

Glad to hear that...I was looking for some feedback from anyone who might have used him. It's been tricky trying to find someone well skilled and reputable. Opening the phone book is always hit and miss.

Like I've said, my car looks good as I am pretty anal about it and I do a good job keeping the shine as good as I can. But it could be great!

Got my Corvette back from zippymbr last night after he spent a day removing the swirls and spider-webs that were giving me nightmares. He did a fantastic job restoring the car's finish, giving it a black mirror like reflection that is quite deep to say the least.

Overall I am very happy with the results and I would say he got about 90-95% of the pre-existing swirls and marks removed, leaving a more even finish. Under direct sunlight you can still see some micro-tiny swirls if you get your face right up to it, but it's definitely a 5 footer, which is never a bad thing.

Anyways, here are some photos I took this afternoon of the results of his time and effort. Needless to say, anyone in the Raleigh/Durham area shouldn't think twice about trusting their car with zippymbr.
