So, my girlfriend and I broke up...
Well it all started last night. I found out that she was having a campout. She invited other guys and not me, so I broke up with her last night just because I was pissed off. I called her this morning and she told me that she was going to break up with me after prom anyway. (prom is in like 2 weeks). I already have all my stuff for prom and I cant return it. And I cant go to prom unless I go with her becuase Im a sophmore and she is a senior and it is a Junior Senior prom. I am just really depressed and had to detail someone's car while I was really depressed. This just sucks though becuase we have been going out for 1 year and 7 months. At our 1 year anniversary, we bought each other rings that were engraved with the date. We did that because we thought we were going to be married one day. I am just really depressed right now and just wanted to get this out to someone.

Your way to young to be worrying about getting married and there are plenty of girls, so don't get hung up on this one. Remember the good times you had and move on and you will soon find one that will make her a distant memory. Keep your chin up and someone better will come along.

Re: So, my girlfriend and I broke up...
I remember high school. It sucks I know man..and nothing anyone says here is really going to make it all better.
But I thought I had found "true love" and the girl I was going to marry in high school too, but looking back i just realize how stupid I was to think that. You are not going to find "the one" in High school. you have what maybe 150 girls to choose from?? I am about to turn 23, had plenty of GF's and still have yet to think I found the one again! You are just young; and I know High school is EVERYTHING to you right now..5 years from now you are just going to look back and think how stupid it was to be so hurt by some 18 year old girl!!
Not to sound effeminate or anything but you really have not even experienced life yet dude, i guarantee you will be fine!

Re: So, my girlfriend and I broke up...
You're a sophomore, hopefully this teaches you not to get hung up on one right now, just have lots of fun with as many as you can. You're just getting started and the fun hasn't even begun yet!!! Look at this as a good thing, not a bad thing!!!

Many do, but good point otherwise... go by the 2 month rule unless you find some sort of perfect girl (you won't).... you date 2 months then call it quits, no matter if you're happy or not... works well and I still found "the one" in HS

Concider it a lesson learned and move on. Easy to say and hard to do. We all go through it and only time will heal the hurt. Finish school, get established in a career then start looking for that special someone who cares more about you than herself. That wasn't what you lost.

I agree man..don't worry too much about her.get it as an opportunity to find something better than her.Just keep in mind that if someone cannot be with you anymore that means she is not good enough for you...I know that now you will say that she was the one etc etc but all of us i think we passed through this phase...Life is too short to worry about those things man...Be strong,go detail some cars if you really love to doing this and after a year all this is gonna be just a memory if you could still remember her name....

All the guys that posted above are right. Yet none of that will make you feel any better today. You'll get over it in a week or two and move on.

Re: So, my girlfriend and I broke up...
I've found that for a while, you really have the blinders on. After you step back for a sec and ask yourself if she was really the one you wanted to spend your life with, I'm sure you'll see all the reasons you weren't meant to be. It might take a week or a month or whatever, but you'll see.
