Hey guys, looking to share some marketing ideas since there hasn't been one of these threads in a while.

I'm needing some business, and I'm looking for some ideas to help spread the word. There is a city ordinance here to prevent placing fliers on cars and the like, so that common marketing technique is out of the picture, since I don't want to risk fines and all of that.

I sent out some post cards a while back (just 1,000 to test the waters, mailing list targeted to houses with 100k+ income) and didn't do all that good. I got one job from it, and a few other calls, but none of them seemed to be all that interested in getting a detail, especially when they found out how much it costs (I was estimating $150 for a car, $170-$180 for a truck/SUV at the time... which I would consider being cheap if anything).

I just finished writing some letters to local real estate agents that will be put in the mail tomorrow, not sure what to expect from that.

I'm thinking of putting up an ad in the local business magazine thing that's saturation mailed to a zip code where I live. Has anyone had any luck with these sort of things?

Just looking to share some ideas with you guys. It's been a very mild winter, so I figure might as well start marketing early instead of sitting around doing nothing.

A few questions first. How many times did you mail 1,000 post cards out? What did the post card say? Did you put together a scripted sales pitch on how to combat price vs value?

Rotary Clubs and such. Visit country clubs in your area and "work" a deal with them. Business that have management that work long hours and make good money and have the need to impress.
As far a realtors, I would make a deal with managemnt that once a month they pay for the top producer(s).

I havn't done much marketing for my business as of yet because I'm going to be leaving town for a little while, but what I have been doing is just networking with people we (my partner and I) have been doing business with previously i.e. body shops, limo customers, friends familys,ect. I'm not sure what services your offering but I'm sure your prices are resonable. The problems I've been having with respect to pricing is theres a couple people around town doing dealers cars (complete detail but no buffing) for around 85.00 I have no idea how they can get away with that, but most wealthy people have enough connections to get it done at the same price wich I can only compete with by doing half *** work wich I don't like/want to do I hate to admit it but the ticket may be to quote people low prices and upsell them on sealers, wheel polishes, better waxes, stain removal, buffing and the like. I don't know its kind of a shifty way to do bussiness but maybe thats what it takes to make people think they got a good deal
