Re: what types of place for networking

You are talking about networking, and are mentioning store fronts. Are you referring to trying to get businesses to allow you to put up fliers, or place business cards - that sort of thing?

yeah...stores for fliers and what not advertising in them, having them refer people to you and so forth

and then networking as in with other shops in the industry...like window tint, PDR, etc

Re: what types of place for networking

Here are some things that have worked for me...

In the next town over, there is a cruise in every Friday night when the weather is nice. I have been going there the last few weeks. Everything from classic cars, to hot rods, to new sports cars attend. I have picked up clients this way.

I have become a sponsor for a local car club, in exchange for free polishes on the President and VP's cars, my info is placed on their club website, and my info gets listed on some other things they send out. Not to mention, I will get details from other club members that see the 2 cars that I did.

My strategy has been to offer a free, or reduced price detail for people that I think can lead me to many more clients. The other thing I do is if a client sends me 2 or 3 referrals, I may call them up out of the blue, and say, "Thanks for the referrals, I'd like to stop by at your convenience and wash your car for free." This allows them to feel like they are being rewarded for the referrals, and gives me an opportunity to try to point out things on their cars when I wash them, and to try to talk them in to setting up the next paid service.

+2 on cruise ins. Be sure to hit any local car shows as well. Also, hit the local body shops. The ones around me get calls for detailing and they refer the work on to me. That's where most of my work has been coming from this year.

Also, get involved in your community, somehow, someway. I joined the Chamber of Commerce. While it's not created a lot of work for me in the 5 months that I've been in it, it has given me a lot of exposure with established community leaders.

Lastly, hit the speed shops/accessories shops. If they don't offer detailing, you could be a great resource for them. It could be another service that they could advertise.

Could not have said it better! Defiantly cruise ins...car clubs, window tint/auto accessory stores(just picked up two details from getting my car tinted yesterday)
Local gyms...anywhere really!
