Question on a Saturn

I detail used cars for a friend that buys these heaps at the auction. I have been working on a 2001 Saturn, black, that's eat up with scratches and etched to the metal on the hood by bird crap. He said, just polish and wax, ok, I tried to make it look better. I used a yellow Edge wool pad, HiTemp extreme cut mixed with Malco's Perfex via rotary at 1700rpm. The scratches are still there, you can't feel them with your fingernail but they're there. I compounded till the paint hazed and I have buffer swirls so I think I did enough, I followed with my PC and Malco's Nano polish, got rid of the haze and buffer swirls, made the paint black and glossy, then I went over with Poliseal. I feel kinda down that I couldn't get it any better. Is Saturn paint different since it's covering plastic doors and fenders?

Re: Question on a Saturn

I'm not sure if the paint is different, but every Saturn I have detailed has been in terrible shape. It could be a difference in paint, or it could be that they are normally owned by people that don't care about their appearance (they are Saturns!).
