Is my reasoning (math) correct?

I've been pricing out materials and hit a bump when calculating container sizes and dilution ratios. For example, I was comparing Gold Class S&C 64oz. to Duragloss #901 Car Wash Concentrate 16oz.

Gold Class' suggested ratio is 1oz:1gal
At $10 for 64oz this comes out to about $0.156/oz.
If you figure you need a total of 3 gallons per wash you have $0.468 per vehicle
100 vehicles later and you have spent $46.87 on Gold Class S&C

Duragloss #901's suggested ratio is 1oz:3gal
At $5 for 16oz this comes out to about $0.312/oz.
Again, if you figure you need a total of 3 gallons per wash you have $0.312 per vehicle
100 vehicles later and you have spent $31.25 on Duragloss #901 Car Wash Concentrate

Is my reasoning right? Will I save money with Duragloss or have I forgotten to account for something? Is it worth the $15.62 I saved? How do you guys budget?

Re: Is my reasoning (math) correct?

My 16 oz. bottle of DG wash that I got last year says to add 1 oz. per gallon, some forum members have indicated they use half that which I have tried and found to be fine...where did you get 1 oz. for 3 gals?

The description on Autogeek.net says...

Duragloss Car Wash Concentrate #901 is an excellent value. Use only 1 ounce per 3 gallons of water to create a bucket of cherry-scented suds. (Use a stronger concentration to remove oil and tar on heavily soiled vehicles.)

Re: Is my reasoning (math) correct?

For a car wash, I just use what I like. The cost is so small that I do not see any reason to worry over it. $15 over 100 cars? That is only 15 cents per vehilce...

I wonder way Autogeek is disagreeing with the manufacturer? I will admit though, one ounce per gallon does some seem too concentrated to me. The suds seem as thick as shaving creme. I generally use two ounces in a 5 gallon bucket with 4 gallons of water in it. Seems to be a decent dilution.

Re: Is my reasoning (math) correct?

5IVE - I've gotta agree with you on watching the pennies, they sure do add up. I don't see anything wrong with putting an extra 15.00 in your pocket per 100 cars. You can use that money on - 3 gallons of gas (soon), thank-you cards to your customers, or all sorts of other things. Speaking of gas, I suggest figuring in 5.00 per gallon in your costs analysis so you won't have to eat increases any time soon.

todd@bsaw - See my answer above. 5IVE's idea is to maximize profit without sacrificing quality, easy-to-use products. If you can find a way to save $1.00 per car, now you're talking a hundred bucks. Being 'thrifty' is not the same as being 'cheap'. I apologize if I'm sounding 'preachy'.

You can get it for like $6 per 64 oz. at wal-mart...
