Re: How to keep track of clients and details?

Well, I need some techno help here...
I'm using a pen and paper calendar to schedule...
QuickBooks for invoicing and checkwriting.
I'm not mobile, so portability is not paramount.

What 'new' technology/software should I be aware of?

On a separate subject, sorta, I do have a "Network
Camera" to monitor the Shop from home (or anywhere).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jim

off topic

Jim, I met one of your old employees yesterday, Rod Lightner. Real nice guy! He had good things to say about you.

Yes - I use a Nurit 8000 with my Wells Fargo Merch acct. VERY nice. It's wireless and works anywhere cell service is available. It's also quad mode, analog, digital etc... It's also very professional looking when you can swipe cards and print all on one device. Customers love it.

I switched off web gateways as I had my merchant account manager review our rates. Found out that web based solutions, (while I love em) cost you a lot more in fees. It relates to "card not present" vs "card swiped". They ding you hard for card not present. Be aware. Merchant accts cost a little more up front in time to setup, but once going, they're awesome. The wireless device supports all kinds of cards, even smart cards.

BTW... Amex is a major killer on fees. Wish I could not accept it, but with high-end folks, not going to happen. Ever seen a black car???
