need touch up paint repair guy

here is the deal...I have been getting a lot of phone calls lately for touch up repair on bumpers, mirrors, etc..

but the problem is that I dont do touch up repair, and would rather subcontract that out at this point. maybe once I learn the trade I will start offering it, but not at this point.

Anyone know of a GOOD touch up repair guy in orange county. Please give me his or her contact number so that I can get in touch with him/her.

thanks

eric

Re: need touch up paint repair guy

It's really not that complicated to get into. Go to Paint Scratch and look around at what they have. I've touched up a few spots on my car and some others. I don't technically offer or advertise it but if I client wants it done I'll go through the extra effort to make them happy.

If someone asks me if I can do touch up paint, I just get the color code and vehicle information from them and order the supplies so I have it when their appointment comes. The customer pays all the material charges so it's just an added bonus. Gets people to come back to you in the future and I still have their specific color if they need it again.

Re: need touch up paint repair guy

like actual touchup guy or paint repair guy? there is a difference.. touchup guys can only do so much.. small chips on the hood, door edges, chipped side moldings, any chips the size of the tip of a pen is doable and thats the only times where it would look "passable". you will most likely still be able to see touchup work if your looking for it.. sometimes its very noticeable depending on the skill of whomever applys it and the color of the car. anything else wouldnt look right or to me looks cheap. filling scratches, big gouges, bumper scuff, anything bigger than a tip of a pen, etc doesnt work out so well and fusterating as hell! touchup is just that.. touchup.. nothing fansy.

then there is the actual mobile paint repair guys. they will come to you and spray areas with a gun and blend area around it. they also do full bumpers, mirrors, and plastics. the law usually says you cant spray more than a 2x2 area outside and you also cant put a certain amount of toxins in the air.. that usually means not enough pressure and not that good of a finish; however bumpers, plastics, and small blended areas are hardly noticeable if its orange peely or disorted, unless your anal.

hope that helped.

Re: need touch up paint repair guy

I've been using the same paint technician for over three years.
He does some pretty amazing work. Brush, squeegee or spray.
Matches and mixes colors on the spot.
Typically $40-50 to go all around the car.
$150 for most bumper repairs, and they do look new.
I add about 60-75% to his cost.

It is a nice add on service that clients really appreciate.
