What would you do?

Well i got a Dodge Durango dropped off to me this morning, and I pull out to my wash area and I see a glass tube roll out from under the seat as I stop. It turns out to be a CRACK pipe used and all. I imediately take it and smask it inside my dumptster and call the guy and let him know. It turns out he just repoed it from his ex- son in law. I just wondered what you guys would do if you found a crack pipe in one of your customers cars.

Re: What would you do?

Normally i just take whatever I find and put it in a ziploc bag and return to customer. But this owner just got this car back and wanted me to get it ready to sell. Anways when I told the owner he was rather grateful I did, I just didnt want it in or around my shop and smashing it into a million pieces was the best way of disposing it.

Re: What would you do?

If you plan on doing this for a living you should just learn to ignore those things and work around them. Maybe note it on your own records incase someone comes back and says you left a crack pipe in there. But unless you find a trunk full of tnt ignore it...That is my opinion anyway. Wait until the owner forgets to take a gun with them or something. LOL

Re: What would you do?

I had a client once return while I was working on his car and warn me there might be some illigal substances stashed in there (weed). "My friends like hiding their stuff in my car." He was concerned about my shop calling the police if we found anything.
I told him not to worry about anything. Never found the stash, either.

I could really care less about what people do in their free time, but if it's something you are morally against, HMAD, I believe smashing it like you did was the best option. I saw Dog the Bountyhunter do the same thing one episode.

Re: What would you do?

Man i would of left it alone but it was right in the middle of the floorboard. Ive come across guns and weed you name it , I dont touch it,but I knew the customer was trying to sell the car and it was used by someone else other than him. Can you imagine trying to sell your car and the person test driving it seeing a crack pipe roll out . Or the customer getting pulled over with that in there. Under the circumstances it seemed like the right thing to do and the customer was very appreciative. thank you for your input.
