door to door marketing?

How many of you take the time out to canvas neighborhoods and go door to door to introduce yourself and give a brief explanation of what you do? I am seriously considering doing this because I feel a personal encounter has a much better chance of resulting in a "sale" vs. a flyer or brochure left by someone unseen by a potential client. Please share your opinions. Thanks!

Re: door to door marketing?

Personally, I don't deal with door-to-door people. Too many scammers out there for me trust someone with that much time on their hands (think - If it sounds too good to be true...). I think your time would be better spent at a Chamber of Commerce meeting or some other networking type of event. Just my .02.

Re: door to door marketing?

To be honest, if a person comes to my door that I don't know I don't even bother answering it. I don't have the time to listen to sales speaches or deal with those people. I get enough telemarketing calls and spam in my e-mail daily that I don't even want to deal with someone at my door, usually interupting my dinner or lunch.

I agree 100%

What I try to do is put a flyer on each of the 5 neighbors around a home I go to. So, his left and right neighbors and the 3 across the street. Chances are that they have either seen me working or have noticed their neighbor's shiny car. I do get quite some business that way. I don't need to spend a dime in postage nor mass print brochures/flyers. I only detail part time so a few flyers go a looooong way.

Now, that's a great idea! Thanks, I'll be doing that.

Re: door to door marketing?

The guy that came to fix my AC told me about that. He called it "box 5" method.
