Re: 58 rolls silver cloud opportunity

If it's being used as a for-hire wedding car, I suspect it's been repainted and will basically be like any other b/c paint. But hey, that's just a guess

Take plenty of metal polish and such for all the brightwork

Re: 58 rolls silver cloud opportunity

I just had a similar situation this past weekend but with a totally different type of car. The guy was buying his wife a classic black 5.0 Mustang that he wanted to "look like it just came off the lot" and was being presented after the wedding and before the reception. Total time was about 12 hours (16 man-hours as I had help for the final day) and charge was over $600. Weddings are already expensive affairs but the couple are almost always willing to pay extra for perfection.

On a wedding day, the couple want EVERYTHING to be PERFECT so the final walk-around took me and my friend two hours. Your detail shouldn't be this extensive as I had a lot of swirling to remove but be prepared for the white glove treatment.

Nice car. Good luck with the detail.

Love the guy getting his wife the 5.0 Mustang - it's like the Joe Dirt Dream Car

Cool Re: 58 rolls silver cloud opportunity

Here’s some insight, it’s fricken big.

But seriously, of course you have no idea how long it will take, you haven’t seen it in person yet. Meet with him, have a good look over the car, discuss his expectations and work up an estimate. Don’t be shy or try to second guess him. Just base it on your evaluation of the car.

If you come to an agreement that works for both of you dive right in.

If you don’t feel comfortable with the job (for whatever reason) thank him for allowing you the opportunity, decline respectfully and walk away.

PC.

Re: 58 rolls silver cloud opportunity

The ones I have detailed seemed to be laquar and the trunks leak so be careful with that. Leather maybe uncoated.

Have fun!

Lucky you, getting to work on ones that haven't been "restored" with b/c. I'd expect the lacquer's a true pleasure to work with.

But ss metallic lacquers can be a bit of a challenge and you gotta be very gentle with 'em...no serious correction lest you do something irreparable (gee, guess how I know ).
