Business Card Posting Question

Hello, Im hoping fellow autopians can help me out here. I have had business cards made, and I made a price sheet to post up in businesses. I am going around tomorrow to put up cards

1. Do you think I should put up just one card, or is there something I can buy at a local Staples/Office Max to put on those boards to hold multiple cards.

2. Should I also post this price sheet underneath my cards so people who are interested can see other packages I offer?

On the pricelist I have my logo on the top, followed by:

Basic Wash: $25-$35
-Vehicle is hand washed, will not scratch like tunnel-washes!
-Dried with waffle weave towel
-Interior vacuumed
-Interior and exterior glass cleaned
-Dash is wiped clean
-Wheels/tires cleaned
-Tires dressed
-Spray wax

Maintenance Package: $75
-Vinyl, rubber, and plastic trim is cleaned and protected/dressed
-Wheels cleaned free of brake dust and other contaminants
-All tires and wheel wells cleaned and dressed
-Entire vehicle is washed - Paint is sealed
-Vacuum entire interior
-Dash and door trim wiped free of dust and dirt
-Vinyl/Plastic/Leather protected
-Interior windows cleaned with window tint safe glass cleaner
-Door jams and cleaned and receive a gloss enhancing spray
- Spot Clay and paint cleaner applied

Full Detail (Cars Starting at $120 - - Suv’s starting at $140)
-Wash
-Clay (Exterior Contaminants Removed)
-Wheel wells and tires cleaned and dressed
-Rims cleaned and polished
-Door jams degreased and waxed
-Paint transfer and oxidation removed
-Paint sealant
-Windows cleaned
-Interior vacuumed and spots treated
-Carpet deep cleaned if needed
-Vinyl/Plastic/Leather cleaned and dressed
-Wheels sealed for easier clean up

Ultimate Detail: Cars - $180 - SUV's - $200
Added over full detail:
-Swirl removal
-Fabric Guard to protect carpet
-Leather conditioned
-Wash
-Clay (Exterior Contaminants Removed)
-Wheel wells and tires cleaned and dressed
-Rims cleaned and polished
-Door jams degreased and waxed
-Paint transfer and oxidation removed
-Paint sealant
-Windows cleaned
-Interior vacuumed and spots treated
-Carpet deep cleaned if needed
-Vinyl/Plastic/Leather cleaned and dressed
-Wheels sealed for easier clean up

Clay explained: Claying a vehicles surface is very beneficial, it removes embedded contaminants a normal wash cannot remove. These contaminants if left on the paint it can permanently etch your paint and possibly cause pre-mature clear coat failure. *Highly recommended service when using the wax or swirl removal service*

Should I put something on the pricelist leaning towards the effect that I only use botique products or just leave that out?

Don't say boutique, say "we only use high-quality professional-grade products for the best possible results".

I'm a bit concerned about your pricing structure.

your base price should cover your cost to get to the site, and work for at least one hour, possibly 1.5 hours.

can 25 dollars cover that cost for you.


You have the right idea on packages. But i would seperate them differently

I would start with your middle package

Then have a package that included full interior clean

then have a package that included full interior protection

Then have a deal for washings for repeat customers.

I am unfamilliar with your area and it's demographics so i can't get too specific but i think your selling your work short.

as an add on take your top package and the time it will take you and divide that into your price.

so if your saying your top package will take you 8 hours for 120 that is 15 an hour.

Where as if 25 dollars covers your first hour you are at 25 an hour.

if your top package takes you 4 hours you are at 30 an hour. Customers will pick up on this discrepancy.

I also dislike add in services, why because the price changes from your pamplet or the price you quoted. I would incorperate the add in services into your top package, then price accordingly.

Finally you need to extend offers for repeat buisness. not intro offers. You want people coming back not new people who never come back.

so On the back of your cars put a 7-15% off repeat buisness. besure your customers allways get more than one card, besure where you place them allows for people to grab more than one card.

Thanks for all the help so far - As for selling my work short, I already had 2,000 cards made that say Full Details starting at $125

Should I take swirl removal out of my full detail service and add a Ultimate Detail where swirl removal is added to the package for a total package price of $160

well what is your target hourly rate? What do you need for an hourly rate.

take the middle of those two. then figure out how many hours you'll spend on swirl removal in general. ad your estimated hourly rate to that 125, and there is your ajusted price. Don't forget to include your add ons in that price. (IMHO addons are customer turn offs. it is like saying "would you like fries with that" of course you want fries with your hamburger.) things to keep in mind are keepint the 3 packages close together so they are not seperated by price gap, stager the packages so that the things that each package offers is truely worth while.

95% of the time people will pick the middle package.

Money really isnt the object to me in detailing...I do it on the side and just love detailing and would like to make some money off it for my time/products.

I tried to base my prices on my hourly rate but maybe my times are a bit different than others. I updated my original post to include an ultimate detail - How does this look now?

Alright, I didnt know whether to add all of it in again or not.

And I want more work becuase I like detailing that much and my favorite part..buying new products. So I find this is a way I can enjoy detailing, try different products, help people get great looking cars. And make a few bucks

Getting 2000 cards re-done is much cheaper then selling your work at discount prices!

to *Pricing varies based on condition of vehicle

I ma not a fan of price lists and menus. I dont think people read the menus anyway. A Price list just sets the stage wrong to me. You dont get the opportunity to sell any jobs if the people dont call you to inquire about costs. In addition if a car is a total mess and you will need $275 to clean it, how do you justify the jump from $120? That is a good way to lose business. You are a skilled worker, your time is what people are paying for. You should value your time.

Josh,

1) It would be good to go with more than one card. Most office supply stores sell low cost plastic card holders. Check to see what is available.

2) No, it is not a good idea to post your prices underneath the cards. You can surely post your packages, just not your prices. Posting prices can sometimes turn people off before they even get a chance to call you. Never post your prices in public.
