Dedicated Mobile Detailing Site

Autopia is a great site for technique, products and the like, but if you seriously want to know more about the mobile detailing business, you might want to check out this site:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/priva...ages?msg=461.1

I am pretty sure you will have to register, and the actual board is not as user friendly as this one (VB rocks!), but there is a wealth of information. There are only a few of us mobile detailers registered on this board, so if you have questions we cannot answer here, then the Delphi board is a nice option.

Do they have any rules that would prohibit me telling them about the Klasse GP I have going?

Not that I am aware of-and some of them do use Klasse products. If there is a problem, they'll just delete the thread, I guess.

Semi-OT

Sorry for the semi-OT post but I have been wondering about this but hesitant to ask someone to devote time to it...I've been hoping for a good thread / discussion somewhere about the Meguiar's professional type abrasives and a good comparison of them. I searched over there but didn't find one, I'm not familiar with that BB system.

Can someone point me to a thread or make one? I know others were interested in it and I have seen snippets around, but no comprehensive info by someone knowledgeable and experienced in the uses of the abrasives (Scott?).

Thanks!

Justin

Thanks Scottwax.... that looks like it will be a helpful site for me as I prepare to go part-time mobile this spring. I'll look around and post some questions, I'm sure. I registered there under IvyGold65.

It is a Delphi site, don't know why it would be blocked.

The actual board (not the people or the info) really sucks. Old and slow. Nothing can compare to a VB 3.0 board. Probably not enough member to make it worth switching.

puterbum If you click on the 'next 50' link, I believe there is a thread about Meguiars.

One of these days when I have time to sit down and go over the entire gamut of Meguiars products, I'll work something up and you can archive it. Maybe Tuesday, it is supposed to rain.

Quick Summary of their Body Shop Professional line:

Diamond Cut-strong compound w/buffered abrasives.

Dual Action Cleaner/Polish-mild paint cleaner (similar to Fine Cut #2), but w/buffered abrasives, so it breaks down into a light polish.

Swirl Free Polish-light polish, removes minor swirls and fills larger swirls.

Hand Polish-extremely light polish, lots of oils. Lays down a real wet base to wax over.

On each of these product, you need to work them into the paint until they are nearly clear and dry.

I was there in the past and ran across some rather... how shall I put this.... innapropriate sites. Innapropriate for those of us whose Internet surfing are monitored at work.

Maybe that's why he was blocked.

Honeygold just registered, but apparently I registered a long time ago-I was doing a Google search for mobile detailing sites, and it was one of the links that I got. I went to the site and I was already registered. I must have done it when I first got the internet I guess.

MDC

I am a member at that forum and my personal opinion is that if your more interested in techniques and product reviews AF is superior. MDC is an excellent forum for those who operate in the business, but its content lacks the indept reviews and the "show and tell" of AF. Also... be aware some of its members may be on testosterone therapy and at times they may not be as cordial in their responses as this forum... I would rate them a 3 out of 4 stars with AF rated 5 out of 4 stars.
