I don't think its a criticism for pro-environment regulation but once again trying to make blanket legislation work. I'm sure glad that spray wax isn't destroying the environment now since it's 98% water now. I'm now going to be a 'criminal' for using products that are not in compliance with VOC regulation in California. However, my neighbor who is dumping fecal matter into the drinking water system here and the other who has leaking oil and other chemicals from several acres of junkyard into the same water is alright. I contact the county and everyone but guess what, they don't want to do anything about it because its too much work. But hey, thank God my spray wax is now eco-friendly.

Is Megs #16 going to be impossible to get soon?
I am hoping to get some soon. I am trying to hold off as long as I can(will be my late fall wax in prep for winter). I have noticed that Megs site does not advertise it.

What I am trying to say is should I order sooner than later my supply of Megs #16?

I am a "lurker" on this board and find it to be very organized and civil. I apologize if this topic has been addressed previously.

Regards,
MM

From what I understand there was talk about reformulating #16 to conform to the VOC regulations but nothing regarding it being discontinued.

Terry,

Great post and very informative, as usual

DetailGirl,

I love the enviroment but how is Clear Pearl Detail Spray destroying it? I have given up my gas mower for an electric one. I have traded in my gas edger for an electric model and I have also canned my gas leaf blower in favor of an electric jobber BUT for professional detailers, who almost always worry about the bottom line, we will now have to pay perhaps twice as much for a inferior product and that really chaps my bum so while we care about the earth could this not be overkill on CA's part?

I am sure that in the next few days CMA, Detail City, TOL, Autopia and the other popular detail supply houses will be getting large orders from detailers (at least those who are aware of this), both pro and amateur, so that they can stock up on their favorite "soon to be illegal" supplies. Reminds me of the time in history when liquor was illegal and you had "rum runners"......are we now going to have "carnauba runners" running tubs of P21S and Souveran over state lines

Anthony

To me, it's less of an environment thing and more of a personal health issue. The VOCs in APCs, tire shines, and cleaner waxes may cause long-term health conditions for those who are exposed to it frequently. I got a headache after using Glanz Wax. It doesn't take a MD to think up the connection.

Oh well, I'll leave it up to Edwin to declare that "true Autopians" will [fill in blank]...

Good night,

BW

Take a tour through the CMA website and you should see on the product description if it is banned.

I agree that safety of the user is a priority but I'd like to know how dangerous using EF quick detail is compared to the chemical cocktails found in everyday household cleaners. I don't know the specifics at all about these things but I somehow doubt that Souveran is going to leave long term damage. If there is a substatial health argument, I'm all for protecting the user. But the environmental stance is ridiculous compared to what goes on in this state. Leave it to a state that requires engineered plans and building permits for car ports...
