Business Plan

Has anyone worked on a business plan for their detail shop? If so, what exactly were the costs you outlined in the plan? I need one so I can get an idea of how to get mine off the ground.

Prinz- I copied and pasted directly from my company's website. It's really long but I hope it helps you some. Feel free to use some content... I don't mind.

We at West Houston Auto Detailing are picky about our customer’s cars. Perfection is our one and only motto and therefore is how we operate our business.

We guarantee to meet or exceed any client’s expectations, or no payment is required. Enough Said.

Platinum:

Exterior- We start by thoroughly washing and drying your vehicle. Wheels and tires are then cleaned and a dressing is applied to tires and any trim pieces. We then inspect the finish for any swirls and/or micro-scratches. If any can be seen, we will use a Fine Cut Swirl Remover to repair minor scratches and cover up any that cannot be repaired. We will repeat this step if necessary. After your paint has had a comprehensive cleaning, its time to polish it back to the reflective showroom like glow your car had when it was new. When polishing we will apply the compound using an orbital buffer to ensure proper coverage and the best possible finish. We will then follow with Pinnacle Paste Glaz on light colored cars, or Pinnacle Souveran on dark colored cars. Pinnacle products provide the best possible results that are long lasting and have an extremely durable, high gloss shine.

Interior- We begin by shampooing and vacuuming all carpet, mats, and seats as needed. We will follow with a fabric guard to prevent future stains. Any wood or plastic trim gets cleaned and shined. All surfaces are dusted, then any vinyl and leather gets conditioned. All sides of any glass is then polished and cleaned.

Gold:

Exterior- We start by thoroughly washing and drying your vehicle. Wheels and tires are then cleaned and a dressing is applied to tires and any trim pieces. We will then follow with a hand-applied coat of Zymol Cleaner Wax. The cleaner wax will cover minor swirls temporarily and leave a long lasting coat of protection that both looks and feels great.

Interior- All interior surfaces are first wiped down with mild cleaner. Carpet, floor mats, and seats are then vacuumed. Carpet gets spot treated as necessary and any glass is cleaned.

Silver:

Your vehicle will receive a thorough hand wash and dry followed by a gloss enhancing spray to make your paint shine like new. Glass is cleaned, and wheels and tires are then cleaned and a dressing is applied to tires and any trim pieces.

Service:
Platinum-
This level is the elite. It includes a thorough wash and dry followed by gloss enhancing spray. Your vehicle will receive a Cleaner, Polish and Wax combination applied by machine. This will insure proper coverage and a brilliant finish that is both protected from the elements and looks and feels better than new guaranteed. Tires will be glossed and any chrome will be polished. The interior will be vacuumed, any spots removed and all leather cleaned and conditioned. Rain-X is applied to the windows at no extra charge.
$130+

Gold-
The gold level includes a thorough wash and dry followed by a gloss enhancing spray. Exterior receives a hand-applied coat of Zymöl Cleaner Wax. Tires will be glossed. Interior receives a vacuum and an application of vinyl and plastic protecting agents.
$60-$85

Silver-
The silver level includes a thorough wash and dry followed by a gloss enhancing spray. The interior will be vacuumed and cleaned. Tires will be glossed as well as any plastic on the exterior of your vehicle.
$25-$45

Optional Extras-
We offer several extras to our customers that can be added to any detailing package.

1) Clay Bar Treatment- This treatment cleans the clear coat of your car’s paint of dangerous tree sap, oxidation, and industrial fallout.
+$15 (Any package)

2) Zaino/Klasse Treatment- Zaino and Klass are both high quality synthetic polymer sealants that eliminate the need to strip, and re-wax your car. A single treatment of Zaino or Klasse can last up to a year!
+$30 (Gold and Platinum packages only)

3) RainX- This is applied to all of your car’s windows and helps repel water and improves the clarity of the glass.
+$10 (Silver and Gold packages only)

Shampoo Mats- We will shampoo and dry your mats to insure the cleanest carpets.
+$25 (Silver and Gold packages only)

Hmmm. That's not bad for signage but what I am looking for is a business plan outlining the costs of opening and running the business. I am thinking about doing this pretty soon as I want to open mine up.

Search google.com for "business plan" or "business plan template" or "how to write a business plan."

There are lots of templates and guides out there for free.

Remember to over-estimate expenses, and under-estimate income.

Very true, remember this and you wont go far wrong. Be prepared to backup any assumption you make and dont worry to much about profit, concentrate on cash flow
