Re: Sema This!!
Looks as bad as Guy Fieri's (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) Camaro. Every time I watch that show and they show his car in the sun, I cringe.
BTW, Joe-contact the producers of Entourage and see if you can get those nasty swirls out of Drama's black Lincoln.

Re: Sema This!!
That's typical at any car show.

Re: Sema This!!
I saw that Camaro in person at SEMA looked terrible. There were a lot of really poorly polished cars at the show, and a lot of people who didn't know much of anything. I call these people "triple p" that stands for "piss poor performers".

Exactly! Which is why I intend to go to this month's Cars and Coffee in Plano (near Dallas) and troll for business. 3 of the vehicles I did towards the end of last month went to that event, total of 500 cars.

Re: Sema This!!
I saw that car and MOST at the show were in horrid shape. I was shocked at the mothers polish, they went around on the last day and gave awards to the top cars for shine. There was a car with rids everywhere with an award!
Cheers,
GREG

It's a shame! Unfortunately, I guess (to the novice), a shiny car is a beautiful car.
But...I know many shiny cars that are swirled, too. Apparently Mothers was giving out their awards only for "shine", and not for "Shiny and defect-free finish".
Err, actually I can't get the words to come out right . Anyone know what I'm getting at?

Re: Sema This!!
well if you're new to the show car scene, there are different levels of cars at shows. there are 20ft cars meaning they look good 20 feet away, 5 ft, 2 ft and then the ridler type cars that are gone over with a fine tooth comb and magnifying glass. most car builders struggle to complete cars with in time and with money budgets. trust me i have helped build a few SEMA cars and trucks and some aint very pretty but they show case the products and thats all that they care about. last year i even offered to help out a guy finish color sanding his car and his answer: naw its only the top and we just made the body kit. i was blown away, i was gonna do it in trade for some room on his build board. most show cars are really badly built and wouldnt stand up well to every day driving.

LOL yeah i get it. but shiny sells products. most regular people wouldnt know the difference anyway or the detailers on these type of forums would be so busy no one would have time to post

I got a few clients from the Cars and Coffee in Cleveland this past summer. Some of them are local sports stars which is pretty cool. Great group of enthusiasts, many of which do not have the time or know-how to take care of their expensive hobbies.

Re: Sema This!!
Having been to SEMA, in my humble opinion, the expo offers little for the professional detailer. Certainly not enough to justify the travel (and associated) costs.
