check it out and give me your input..

so I am working on a really hammered boat...this is proof you need to keep up on your toys: boats, cars, RV, etc!

here is what I was starting with

here is what 5 hits of wool, rotary, and megs 91 powercut compound for boats did...I did two at 1500, one at 2200, one at 1800, and one at 1500 again with slower passes thinking the heated up gelcoat would be easier to work with...NOPE, this thing is tough as nails!

50/50:

right side worked, left untouched

I tried sanding with 1500 and 2500 in one spot on some bad stuff, it hardly made a difference!

Anyhow, I will finish it up tomorrow and put it at about 80%, but considering the cost of a re-gelcoat, I think 80% is pretty good!

There is another boat I need to give an estimate on...what do you think? hasnt been registered in 5 years I think, and I assume its been sitting around unprotected the whole time!

Re: check it out and give me your input..

ouch. that boat is hammered big time. It really is sad to see that people are willing to spend $10,000 or even more on a boat but won't keep up on maintenance on the poor thing. Same goes with a car!

So Megs 91 is the most aggressive stuff they make or?

I was going to suggest using Megs 67 but if megs 91 is the most aggressive they got they pass on the 67.

I have seen excellent results with the 67.

Toss up some after pictures.

E,

As wediscussed yesterday, do your Colinite research. Colinite's history is deep into the gelcoat care. The right pad/product should net you the results you seek.
