Saw a sign yesterday that made me chuckle. I will try to get a picture of it later. It was a cardboard, neon green, handwritten sign that read "Just say NO to 3 digit details"

Had a number listed.

I was on my way to detail some cars for, OMG, 3 digits!

Guess this also goes with Scottwax's oxidized, swirled, auto detailing car.

you should call the number and get very technical on him. i did that once to a salesmen trying to sell wax. he got pretty bitter when people began to walk away because he had no idea what he was talking about.

That's hilarious. I laughed when I ask a local detailer what his going rates were and he quoted me $120 for "washing, compounding, waxing all that stuff". I asked him what brand of chemicals he uses, I didn't recognize the names.

LOL Steve... You know I think I have an extra $49 kickin around I might just call them up and then go over every single thing they miss.. Could be alot of entertainment value for $49.

I charged about $245 on a black GT-R for a full interior/exterior detail
I prolly did charge a little too cheap, but then again there are some competitors out here in the Houston area that's a little cheaper... SIGH

LOL that craigslist ad says that he can do paint correction as long as it's not 'eating away at the clear coat'?! What kind of correction can he do then, cover it with a glaze???

Like it or not, that's our competition when we try to sell our services in Greenville. Oh, that and the hugely popular Greenville Car Wash. Every Saturday I see long lines of BMW's, Mercdedes, Lexus's, etc. literallyh backed up waiting for a "detail" at one of their locations. For $15 they'll run your car through a tunnel wash and then have 9 people flock to your car with the same towels they just wiped 50 cars with including dropping on the ground. You'll spend the first 10 minutes of some conversations just trying to explain that what they do and we do are not remotely the same service and why we charge more than $15.
