Perhaps if you washed cars in the street...

AWESOME advice.

Good luck finding a community in S. Florida that isn't part of a HOA. Few and far between unless you like living in the Everglades.

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

HOAs actually have a few good things, I wish our little neighborhood here had something in place as far as rules...

I've got a neighbor with a camaro that is completely torn to peices all over his carport, and has been that way for about 3 months... he could atleast pick it all up and cover it or something, and pick up the trash out of the yard... We've got a nice neighborhood and just a couple houses make it look ghetto... its aggravating...

We got hassled by other home owner while we were moving cause we had a couple sets of shelves set outside under the carport covered up for two days, and no one has said a word to that guy, or to the people across the street with about 10 lawn chairs strung across their yard....

I'm afraid I have to agree...A bunch of self-righteous cooks who attempt to legitimize their lives by fooling themselves into believing they are doing great public good (and that they themselves can do no wrong)...

It's not going to be a fun or easy battle, but I hear you, OP. Best of luck .

If I was confronted by someone from HOA or whatnot, I would begin our conversation with "Do me a favor and shut your mouth".

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

I think once you get on the bad side of the HOA, its a tough battle to get out. You need to find the rules that apply to you and follow them or work on getting them changed. Anything in between is going to cost you more frustration and you won't win in the end.

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

I agree with some of the other posters.

It's going to be uncomfortable for you if you try and "fight" something like this.

HOAs are kind of a double-edged sword. They are SUPPOSED to be in place so that property values don't fall because someone decides to do something crazy to their house, lawn, etc. so I don't think they're all bad... but yeah once you get on the "bad side" of them it's not going to be fun for you.

Personally... I would just stop washing cars in the driveway and do it in your garage if you have one.

ONR is great and it's also better for the environment so a double bonus

Once the lady doesn't see you out there washing cars etc. she'll eventually get bored or just find some other crazy thing to complain about. Hopefully it won't be you.

I am very fortunate to NOT have crazy neighbors and I thank God I have people that live around me that aren't that way... I know what it's like to be in that situation though.

Went through a whole thing with a past neighbor.. called police... yelled... exchanged nasty looks each time we passed. It was a nightmare that did not end until I got my dog. The wack job LOVED my dog (of course I loved my dog too so I guess I'm biased) and after that we got along... go figure.

Good luck in whatever you choose man... I'm pullin for ya

Exactly ... they both protect you and restrict you.

Best to consider the pros/cons and then decide if that's where you want to live and invest in a home.

To each his own....

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

HOA's f'n suck! Most of the people live miserable lives and have nothing better to do then to complain. It's HOA's job to make your life a living hell.

I live in a condo and it has been a pain for a while now. I have got into some heated debates with some people who just want to lip off about my service but when they want there cars done it's perfectly fine.

Some other condos that i have worked at don't even allow mobile detailing which is odd. They say the car wash area is only for residence but if the resident pays maintenance fee's and wants to hire someone to take care of their vehicle i don't see what the issue is.

Bottom line they just all like to complain or harass to try and show that they have some sort of authority which is down right lame.

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

HOAs aren't all bad. I honestly would like to move some place that still has one....but run by people who are not so Nazi like...

I don't think anyone wants to have a nice maintained house and then have someone just trash the place next to them...

They have their place, but there needs to be level of sanity to them

Re: Crazy Neighbor/HOA

I feel your pain with the crazy neighbors. I went through that at my last home and I can't tell you the stress it caused me. There is nothing worse than living next to someone like that. The everyday confrontations causes such a strain on you.

One of the happiest days of my life was flipping the guy off as I moved from my old home with my movers in tow.
