Danase Water Spot Remover -- Quick Review w/ Pics

I used the Danase Water Spot product several months ago and have been meaning to share the results but have just not gotten around to doing so.

Bottom line, this stuff just plain works! This customer came to me thinking he needed a new paint job. The mineral deposits were so bad that he could barely even see out of his windshield. When I would gently rub my fingers on the deposits it sounded like I was rubbing my fingers on sand paper!

Any how, on with the pics... The entire car was riddled with these water spots as the customer had just moved to the area and didn't know how hard the water was and he left his truck parked next to a sprinkler that was watering new grass seed. New grass seed needs to be kept wet so the sprinklers were being used 3 times a day and the truck had sat right next to the sprinklers for a week while he was out of town for business.

The owner and his son tried all kinds of products before bringing the truck to me and nothing even made a dent in them. I thought I was going to have to use wool and compound to get them off, that is until I tried the Danase product.

Bottom line, this should be in every detailers supplies... You never know when a customer’s vehicle will need it!

I love the DWSR. Saved my butt on a few occassions. Always make sure I keep some in stock. Great stuff

Did you take any before/after pics of the water spots before you polished the paint?

Is this product like a mild polish or more like chemical cleaner? I have been curious to try it.

more of a chemical cleaner...you have to rub it on and wash it off, not just wipe it off! I wouldnt let it sit on the paint for too long, and must use a thorough rinsing/2nd washing!

Nice review Jason! I've been using DWSR a bunch lately for contaminant stripping. If you want to make sure your paint is 100% clean, this is a very valuable tool to have in your arsenal.

Here's what you do with your old LC Orange pads. The stiffness of the pad allows you to work the product in better while scrubbing. I did the whole side of a car with this amount. For $15, this small bottle goes a long way.

are you applying with a PC, or by hand?

Yup, I did the whole side of a Z4 with that much by hand. The key for me is dwell time and not letting it dry on the surface (especially glass). When it starts to dry I'll remist it will my PWer from a distance and wipe over it again by hand. When you do that it "wakes up" or stirs up the dwelling of the product and the friction of you passing over the surface knocks down the contamination more. I really like the orange pads because it doesn't allow the product to soak into the pad all the way and promotes better spreadability. The longer you can let the product do the work (w/o drying), the more effective it will be. Also, using a hand squeege allows you to spot test your work too.
