Re: question on pressure washer purchase

no Rotary Nozzle David ;-)

FWIW, if you are going to be a weekend warrior, my recommendation would be a quality prosumer electric variant. PSI, GPM should meet the specs but maint, upkeep, noise is considerably better than a gas unit IMO.

Re: question on pressure washer purchase

Gas depending on engine size will have more horsepower but we are talking 3K PSI and up. For automotive washing, 1800 is more than enough.

However, when you say rig, you do want gas as you are not at the mercy of a power plug. However, electric I would recommend anyday for a weekend warrior given the application/environment/circumstances of it's setup IMO. I have both gas and electric. Electric is for car washes. I like it's noise free-ness.

Gas for cleaning of the exterior of the house, etc where the power is more needed and I'm not married to ~a cord~.

The problems with using an electric pressure washer in a mobile capacity are due to it's power consumption.

A commercial grade electric PW uses an induction motor, where many older homes don't have the necessary dedicated 20A outlet available; and any noise cancellation that the electric motor gains over a gas motor is negated by the use of a gas generator.

If you detail at your home or operate a shop, and have access to a 20A outlet by all means I'd suggest electric if only to reduce the nuisance to your neighbors, employees and yourself.

Re: question on pressure washer purchase

I'm more or less weighing the options...why have 2 gas burning items on the truck, if i can have 1 generator to power my PW too. Not worried about noise at all. As long as the electric can move the water that a gas one can, i'll be happy.

Re: question on pressure washer purchase

TS -

If you're generator breaks, you are SOL.....for mobile rig, I would go with gas. My post was more intended for the OP, which appeared to by a di'yer
