Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

Was anyone else really disappointed with the Mother's Back to Black stuff?

I bought this expecting more from it apparently... seems like a let down... I ended up just putting the bottle away and using Meguiars Natural Shine on the cowl area...

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

I have read that people usually top it with their favorite protectant but it has worked well enough as-is for me.

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

i had LOUSY results..1st wash, it bled into the paint on the car...didn't last at all...ordered Black WOW, a bit better but perhaps i just have too much damage on my black trim for Black Wow, however it was better than Back to Black, as it didn't just wash away..

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

I have been surprised and pleased by the durability of Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer. But so far the most durable trim dressing I have come across is Ultima Tire and Trim Guard+. I especially like to use it on the cowl. I just wish it was easier to apply. I haven't quite figured out yet the best way to apply the stuff. The GC Trim Detailer is much easier.

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

I use mothers back to black on all my vehicles including my corvette, durability is more than two washes, I have washed my corvette at least six times and the shine is still there along with the beading, dont over apply mothers and evenly coat the surface your working on, then move on to another surface, after doing one round go behind and coat the final time, after waiting around 20 minutes for product to sink in, remove the remaining residue with a shop towel, I have had great results with mothers, if your looking for restoration try black wow. Mothers is more of a preservative for rubber and trim.

I have found Mothers works best when you apply, allow to soak it for a bit, buff off and then repeat several times. It is not a real wipe on, immediately wipe off product. If not well buffed off, it will run when it rains.

Black wow is like magic. Made all the ashy black on my H2 look like new and I only had to use a few drops.

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

Well, I was just making sure I wasn't the only one with poor results... I used almost half the bottle on the cowl on my Camaro and it still looked bad/ashy/dull.... Same process described above...

Re: Back to Black.... Really Disappointed...

Mother's Back to Black works okay when the trim is not in such a bad condition. For heavier oxidized, faded plastic/metal/rubber trims, I hear the Poorboy's Trim Restorer works really well and lasts. Going to order some this week to try out. As a temporary protectant, Aerospace 303 protectant seems to do the job.
