Inspirational Detailers

I know we have a few of these pop up from time to time. But we've really had a lot of great detailers either join and show their work or really up their game since the last one I remember was started. So I was pondering some of the names that go through my head when I have something in the garage. I've been talking with a lot of other guys. Some on here some not all experts in their feilds and just thought I'd ask. Let's say top 5. If you're a pro or just someone that likes to follow the work of the pro's who would fit into you're top 5 for whatever reason?

For sheer detailing skills I have to say mine are (in no piticuler order)

1. Bob Willis (Auto Concerge) extreamly knowledgable (not just cut and paste information on the cars) and extreamly helpful, and above all extreamly professional.

2. Barry Theal (bufferbarry) His ability to take real trash to real treasure and going above and beyond to make it happen is something that can inspire anyone.

3. Rasky - The fact that it could be a 84 dodge omni ir a 2009 porsche they all get the same treatment and they all look perfect when finished.

4. Todd Helms - regardless of personal feelings or current controvesy Todd really made me do a gut check and up my own game with his obsessive attention to even the most minute detail. (the lambo write up still impresses me to this day)

5. Jim Roadabough - Not a member on any site I know of but he taught me most of my skills and his interiors still blow me away. Everytime I think I got a perfect interior he always seems to find a way to make it even better.

This of course leaves out a ton of great highly skilled detailers that could very easily make a top 10 list anywhere. It's just the people I get inspired by when I come across an issue that most would consider out of the norm for detailing.

What's your list and why?

Re: Inspirational Detailers

To add to the list here a few besides those mentioned:

Pampos always turns in quality work

Scottwax

And Apollo over in Hungary. His work is always amazing.

TSC17 (Todd). Always great work, and he's local to me. I still need to meet him sometime, but I'm never home anymore due to work (I leave again in a few hours for 6 weeks!)

TSC17- Todd

Reading his stuff over on garagejournal.com and bimmerforums is why I started doing it. He made an art of it.

Re: Inspirational Detailers

wow to think I inspire is such a compliment. I could only be honored! When I seriously sit back and think about this There are several guys who I am inspired by for more ways then one. To name a few of my biggest insperations one autopia would be

Rydawg- hands down probaly the best polisher I've ever seen.
Auto Conceriage- Extreamly Professional
Apollo of Hungary- I have watched him grow a little on this forum, I admire him for a ton of reasons
Tsc17- What to say about this guy? Just great in everyway.
Jakerooni- This guy has so much passion its crazy. He also makes me rethink some of my interior work.
DSMS- not that age has anything to do with it. But he is so far ahead of the game. Its just amazing!

Re: Inspirational Detailers

Scottwax and Tdekany for their awesome innovation with process still to this day inspire me with my own innovative methods

Barry Theal - simply ridiculous turnarounds

Clark from Polished Bliss - amazing consistence as well as helping to educate

Rob Leys - consistently great work with entertaining write ups

Iann from Finer Details - One of the few who would answer any goofy questions I have without seeming smug about it.

Re: Inspirational Detailers

I was inspired by Deep Gloss, who visits an accord website I belong to. The turnarounds he posted on that forum and his attention to detail are what got me into detailing.

Re: Inspirational Detailers

Todd Cooperider (TSC17) has to be one of the coolest dudes ever. I met him when I drove through Columbus a few months ago and he's just a no-BS, down-to-earth, tell-you-how-it-is kind of guy. Todd is the one who got me truly passionate about paint correction and is always willing to help me make my work just that much better, regardless of how trivial the question might be. That and I admire the heck out of his work.

Listen to me prattling on like a schoolgirl...
