First off, I am not a professional detailer only a hobbyist. For those of you that do this for a living do you feel a certification would help in landing a sale? If I did not do my own work I believe I would find it comforting to know that a detailer was certified by
Meguiar's or some other professional organization. With so many hackers in the world this might help clients separate those that know their profession from those that are interested in just making a quick buck and then they are on to the next vehicle.
From the outside looking in, you guys are the ones that control your profession. This board and the
Meguiar's forum are really the only sounding boards I know of that are accessible to the public for learning about what a quality detail involves. Having some type of association that was more visible and that tried to educate the public at large would help all professionals. Is anyone aware whether anything like this has been attempted in the past?
