Wash water filtration.....

Hey guys,

Im curious if anyone is using any kind of filter system to deal with your waste water. I hear some shops have gone out of business as a result of the local EPA wanting filters in place for your waste water. The problem being the filter equipment is sooo expensive that the small business cant purchase it so they go under...

I am wanting to get into some kind of filter system even thought the wash product I use is supposed to be biodegradable. I still want something there so I can be as earth friendly as possible.

Any advice here? Am I worrying too much or are my concerns valid?

Cool Re: Wash water filtration.....

Even if you’re using biodegradable soap the stuff you’re washing off the car still goes down the drain. If you’re doing engine bay cleaning it’s especially problematic but some towns might be picky about everything off a car.

Check with your local utility about what you can and can’t put down the drain. Different areas handle things differently.

I don’t know what wastewater treatment options are available, but as an individual detailer you should be able to get away with using a very small system.

The only thing I can think of is a Mat. And no, I do not think you are worrying too much.

The water you suck up off the mat still has to go somewhere.

yep, which is the reason I use ONR...no mess to clean up and works just as well...plus you use less water - 4 gal vs. 15-20 gal = price saver right there, granted you cant use ONR on a muddy truck, but then you are not just WASHING it anymore either...
