SCottWAx- Thanks for the pics of the Chevelle...and for the trip down memory lane (those Holley numbers still sound familiar, and Tri-X and I were old pals).

It launched a rod at 6500 rpm. I had a bad harmonic balancer that kept blowing the splines out of the torque converter and it wasnt until TC #3 that we finally figured out the balancer was bad. By then, I guess it had taken its toll on the crank and rods and a week after replacing the harmonic balancer, the engine let loose...but not before earlier that night I had blown the doors off a 1970 LS5 454 (360 hp) Chevelle both off the line and from a roll.

Oh yeah, the cam is in 4 pieces. Look again.

Accumulator-I hear ya! I can probably rebuild a Holley in my sleep even now! I can also set the dwell on a Mallory dual point distributor!

Re: My new-to-me 2002 Maxima SE

Congrats Scott! Maximas will always have a soft spot in my heart...you're going to love the VQ. If I can give you any advice at all, make sure you remove the sunroof visor and clean underneath it very well, fairly frequently. My 1996 Maxima's sunroof visor was probably left on for the life of the car, and now suffers from pitting underneath it. I would almost suggest to take it off completely if the paint underneath is good!

Nice looking car.

I lol'd at this. I know there are actually good detailers working at dealers, but I think this is the reaction most autopians would have.

I think either method works equally well, but pressure washing would be faster than letting the mats soak a few hours.

Do you use an extractor?

If you haven't taken the plunge for a professional grade extractor yet, it's worth every penny!
