ScottWax- I'm pretty late to this party, but you found a great replacement for the 626 and you sure have it looking nice

Nice looking car Scott, they get great gas milage as well. Those headlights lens typically fog up every 6-8 months. I had to rebuff mine often. HID's are such an improvement over halogens.

Re: My new-to-me 2002 Maxima SE

Nice car! I had a 2001 GLE in Gray Lustre w/black interior, and it was one of the best cars I've ever had. If you have the black interior, you have the best color combination available on that car, IMO.

I had very few problems with the car over the course of my ownership. You already noticed the paint chips, which of course is the EPA's fault, not Nissan's. Other nuisances to look out for:

1. O2 sensors liked to die on this car while I had it. There were four (if I remember correctly), and they were expensive to replace. When they throw a code, your mileage tanks until you get them fixed.

2. Warped brake rotors were a common problem. Go with aftermarket rotors and pads rather than Nissan's crap.

That's it! The VQ is a fantastic engine, and the Maxima is a great car. You could easily get another 100,000 miles of that car with proper care.

Nice car, I've always liked the 95-99 model. The 00-03 always seemed a little odd in the design, but they're awesome for the price.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Maxima's built in Japan until the current gen? So what does the EPA have to do with it? Besides emissions on imported cars, I always thought that they only regulate things in this country.

Wow, looks great Scott. I love the HID's I added to the G6. I hope you enjoy the car Scott, with all the work you've put out in the past years, I'm sure you serve this already.

Re: My new-to-me 2002 Maxima SE

Congrats on the addition, Scott.

Gotta love that VQ engine. IMO, that car was your best bet for the price point. I love the color, too.

BTW, you should buy stock in Langka and PaintScratch.com, those chips add on by the day. Gotta give a little to get a little .

Is that the name of the color? Grey Lustre? I have a customer with a new '08 Lexus ES350 in a similar color and really liked how it looked, so when I saw this Maxima, I knew if the car checked out it was the one for me.

I am used to O2 problems, same deal with the 626, which also had 4 of them.

Josh-I hear ya on the headlight hazing. I learned really quickly every time I detail a G35, I had to polish the headlights too. I always do anyone on all cars, but on the G's I had to!

accordmaniac-I think it has to do with the paint and I guess it applies to all cars sold in the US.

Sean-I am amazed at how much car the Maxima is for the money. And DAMN! is that VQ35 a torque monster!

Steve-the HIDs are really nice, especially how wide the beam is.

J.J.-the new OCW? Love it. Even easier to use than the old version and slicker right off the bat. Depth is also somewhat improved. I think the tweaking is about done so it should be available in a few weeks. When it comes out, you will probably have to get it directly from Optimum until it makes its way to the online stores.

Re: My new-to-me 2002 Maxima SE

Very nice looking pose here:

I like the flake action your paint is showing off. Looks like sparkles suspended in resin...from your set of shots. Makes for a nice show-piece to new clients.

I think you made a good choice here too.....The overall shape is more striking than your previous 626.
