Hyundai Azera - Round 2

So I was never really happy with the way this car turned out the first time I did it.

http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/...ighlight=azera

So I called the guy on a weekend that I didn't have any other details to do to ask if I could take another crack at it. He agreed and dropped it off Saturday morning. I felt that, last time, I was too aggressive with the polishing due to the paint being very similar to warm butter!

I tried Menz 106ff with a white CCS pad. It was pulling the swirling out but was still leaving some micromarring behind. So I tried KAIO w/white CCS and it worked perfect! It pulled all the swirls out, left nothing behind but a clean finish.

I topped one side of the hood with P21S just to see how it looked. I went "old school" on the other side and used Megs #16. Megs was the clear winner here! It finished better, it didn't leave any swirling behind from the removal and looked a lot deeper than the P21S.

So my process ended up being:
Polished w/KAIO w/white CCS
Topped w/#16
Wiped down interior w/Megs UQD
Polished glass w/KAIO and topped w/#16
Wheels were cleaned and polished w/Mothers Chrome Polish

I didn't see your first post on this car, but it looks great this time around. Good job.

Nice work. Interesting that you found the KAIO to remove the swirls. I have seen similar results in terms of micromarring removal on soft black clear with KAIO, too.

What was on that car? Leftover ash?

Why interesting? KAIO contains 1 micron abrasives, and it is not just a chemical cleaner as most people think.

Thanks for the comments guys.

BigPoppa: The car doesn't get driven much and he lives in an apartment complex so it's always dusty. The ash from the fires in hundreds of miles south of us.

Re: Hyundai Azera - Round 2

wow kiao took out all the swrils, cool! what speed setting did you use? did you treat the application of kiao just like it was a polish, as far as pressure and feed?

Re: Hyundai Azera - Round 2

I used speed 6 on the PC. I usually go about an inch per second when correction is needed/with mulitiple passes. The CC on this car is ridiuclously soft. Any time at all in the same place and you are going to get micromarring. I moved a little faster than normal with the PC and it worked out really well! Pressure was about the same as well...just moved a little faster.

Like Bence said, KAIO has 1 micorn abrasives and that was obvisouly enough for this car. Probably wouldn't work on the majority of the cars out there.....but it worked nicley for this application!!
