1st attempt at paint chip repair

Hey guys,

I did this Grand Cherokee a while ago and he called me to say that he was selling it and wanted it cleaned up a little. He also asked if I would fill in some rock chips and a couple chips on the drivers door handle. I told him that I had never done it before but if he didn't mind being a guinea pig I would love to try it.

I used the following link from Picus (Thanks bro!!) http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/...ht=chip+repair
and did the best I could.

My process was:

Wipe down the areas with IPA
Fill in chips with paint using the brush that came with the paint tube
Let dry for a couple hours under halogen lights
Sanded chips with Megs Unigrit 3000
Buffed out areas with PB SSR3
Went over whole car w/KAIO on white CCS
Topped w/OS

Re: 1st attempt at paint chip repair

I had to look at the pictures twice to see what was what. Incredible. Just what I need for my nicks. Thanks for posting this!

that's awesome mose. What did you use to buff out the spots? Oh where did you get your sand paper by the way? I was looking for some unigri sand paper too, but couldn't justify buying a 25 pack.

isn't white paint great! on my black it'd be ssr3, ssr2.5, ssr1, maybe a glaze, then seal!

Re: 1st attempt at paint chip repair

Thanks guys!

artikxscout: I used PB SSR3 and KAIO (I just edited the OP) I wasn't too worried about paint correction cuz I had already worked on it before. http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/...light=cherokee

Well....that narrows it down!!

I got mine from a paint supply store that I buy all of my Megs products from. I bought the 25pk cuz I am hoping to do a lot more of this as an add on service.

Gotta warn ya though: The door handle was a PITA!! Very thin paint and the curves on the handle presented a real problem so be careful when sanding!!

HAHA I don't ever remember the name of that site either... thank goodness I bookmarked it!

Auto Detailing Supplies

That is where I got my Meg's products from.

Great job with the touch ups Mose! It came out nice.
