Black C5 Corvette Detail

Here is a Corvette that I detailed for the dealership I do work for. It is a 2001 with only 8,500 miles on it. The previous owner obviously did not take vey good care of it. It appeared that it was never washed, waxed or oven vacuumed its entire life. The car was bought for the owner of the dealerships friend, so it really needed to come out good.

I will let the pictures do the talking as to the condition of the car. There were some really deep scratches on the hood and the front right front fender which required wetsanding to fully remove them.

My Process:

Washed, cleaned wheels tires and engine compartment

Clayed with purple Kar Kraft clay bar (agressive)

Rewashed

Wetsanded deep scratches with 2000 grit

Compounded wetsanded areas and other major scratches with PG using a yellow Edge wool pad @1800 rpm X 2 or 3

Buffed complete exterior with SIP using a blue Edge wool pad @ 1500 rpm

Buffed complete exterior with 106ff using a foam finishing pad starting @1400 rpm going down to 1200 rpm

Hand application of Zaino AIO to complete exterior (Glass and wheels also received ZAIO)

Hand application of Souveran

Super Blue dressing on tires and wheel wells

Here are the before pictures...

Scratches Wetsanded....

In the picture below it looks like a scratch on the headlight cover, but it's not.

Re: Black C5 Corvette Detail

All in all it came out pretty good for the amount of time I was allowed to work on it. I was told to do the job without breaking their wallet, so not quite 100%, but a big improvement from before.

Forgot to add befores of the engine bay and interior....

lol isn't that what all dealerships tell the detailers? I don't think i've ever seen a post where someone said "the dealership told me to take whatever time necessary to make it perfect"

looks great though

Awesome work as usual, Rick.

Unbelievable someone could trash a car that bad only driving it 8500 miles.

Re: Black C5 Corvette Detail

One hell of a come back Rick .

Hard to believe that someone with only 8500 miles on a Vette would do that .
Again one Amazing job . Bet the dealer was really happy about the turn around . Always enjoy your work .

Cheers , Jean Paul

I brought my vette to Rick for obvious reasons. You are the vette king.
