Complete Detail - 2006 Ford Escape Limited

Today I did a complete detail on a fellow Autopian’s (15951) 2006 Ford Escape. All in all, the truck was in good shape (nothing excessive) and just needed a thorough “detailing”. When done, the vehicle looked really nice the owner noticed a big difference and was very pleased. Here’s what I did:

Product/Process:
*Hand washed with EDGE ShMitt & Auto Magic (AM) Wash & Wash
*AM Red Hot APC pre-soak on engine compartment & rocker panels
*Power washed (1500 psi) complete exterior & engine compartment
*Yellow bug bricked rocker panels w/AM Redhot
*AM MAGnificent on wheels, tires & wheel wheels
*AM blue Clay Magic with AM Body Shine
*Dry-Sanded exterior w/4000 sandpaper (no marring)
*Goof Off’d tar & road grime
*AM White Magic with LC white wool (broken in)
*AM BC-2 with Yellow EDGE foam pad
*50 / 50 IA wipe down
*Malco Paint Sealant
*AM Magic Dressing on tires & wheel wells
*AM Special Cleaner / (scrubbed complete interior with toothbrush)
*EZ Clean HD on carpet/floor mats
*AM Leather Conditioner on seats
*AM Clear Difference on Windows

Befores:

Durings:

Pictures don't show much micro-marring, but the paint looked dry and wasn't perfect (yet).

Objects in mirror are shinier than they appear!

Excellent results, great job.

Hard color to show time and effort on, but the mirror shot does that, good shot and work

Paint looks great David.

Is the red hot APC stronger then the 777 APC. Are you using it FS in the pic of the rockers?

TIA!

Sure is - It's got a LRD 330 in it.

about ~ 9hrs. I've pretty much given up on mobile detailing. I don't enjoy lugging all my crap around. It's much more relaxing working at home, having the family around.

After removing most of the contaminants with clay, I rub a dry piece of 4000 grit sandpaper over the finish and it knocks down any remaining contaminants left. In turn, it makes the paint feel much more softer than just claying. Just can also use it wet or instead of claying, but you'll have a greater chance of marring the finish.

I'd have to say that Red Hot is their strongest cleaner. I only use it on heavy duty applications on engines, bugs and road grime. If you cut it enough (20 to 1), you can use in on interiors, but it could leave a caulky residue after drying. Yup, I used in on the rockers.

Re: Complete Detail - 2006 Ford Escape Limited

Thanks David for doing such a great job on my wife's Escape. This car hauls our son around, sees a lot of road tar (see rocker panels), and is generally just a pain to keep clean. David made it look better than new.

I was outside washing our other vehicle this morning, and I can't get over how the paint is just glowing on the Escape. It's nice to have someone in S. Florida even more anal retentive about car care than I am.
